Most people take this for meeting the new credit card spending requirement to earn bonus points.

FYI, if you get Visa and MasterCard GCs, use them quickly. I had a few $100 and $200 GCs from a churn awhile back and hackers ended up using my funds for random purchases at Amazon and other online retailers. There's no way to get those funds back.

Thanks for the heads up. I was actually unsure where these could even be bought in store nowadays. Didn't care too much so I didn't look into it too deep, but many places don't seem to carry them anymore.

Great deal for churning credit cards. Back when you could simultaneously apply for a southwest plus and premier, or w/e they were called, to get both and stack the bonuses for a companion pass, I walked into Walmart to buy $4500 in Visa gift cards. They thought I was from a different planet. Good times!
Probably thought you were being scammed or trying to buy shady stuff online. You wouldn't believe the people who think the IRS is calling them to tell them they owe them money and need to buy iTunes gift cards to pay their outstanding fees.

I used these fee free sales to buy $15K worth of cards to earn a free SWA Companion Pass. I went to three different stores every day for five days and bought $1K each time (the limit at the time). My CP was good starting this past January and will be good through Dec 2023. A lot of work, but worth it.

That's impressive commitment. I struggled liquidating about $2k worth over the past YEAR. Used to be able to liquidate that in less than 20 minutes in the good ole' days (KATE at WalMart)! How did you go about liquidating $15k?

Only 1 place left locally where we can get MOs for these, so I was almost going to pass, but we have to pay the veterinary specialist $2k tomorrow so I'll just unload the cards there. Thanks OP.

About nine months of everyday spending, and funding my Amazon account.

I use them to pay auto and home insurance with these and deplete them quickly.

Normally when you buy a generic "gift card" which basically works like a debit card at the point of sale (not tied to a specific store) there's a $6.95 fee to purchase it which is being waived here.

Yes, nothing wrong with doing everything you can to make your pro freedom purchases harder/practically impossible to track by tyrants and the fascist corporations in bed with them.

Due to internet, most avenues of churning have been exploited and shut down. Heck, many credit cards are offering 5% so it's extra effort to liquidate if you have enough credit cards...
Many credit cards are offering 5%... Care to share what you mean here? My USAA 2.5% back on everything going away at end of year and struggling to find a good replacement.

Be careful. This looks like the same bank as the one from the recent Meijer deal and those were an absolute nightmare to redeem. They didn't work on Amazon after the first 2. You just get an error that it is "contacting your bank" and then it is declined and they don't have any way of contacting the bank via phone or email. They come with a sticker saying they are activated, but they are not. You need to call into their very slow phone system to activate the cards because the website errors out.

This.

Word of advice though, don't just buy 10 of them so your final total is exactly $2000. Throw on something cheap, so the total is an odd number, like $2001.93.

I used to work closely with some people that dealt with new accounts for a credit card company. They would close down cards and deny the sign-up bonus to people who they caught doing this. It was super easy to catch them too. "Walgreens: $404.95" x 10. Obviously, those people were just buying Visa cards over and over again.

Not saying that I agree with that policy, but banks hate it when customers find loopholes like that, and they sometimes proactively take steps to deny you your rewards.

Nowadays, they would call the cops on you!
They have implemented very strict rules with these types of cards, gift cards & money orders.
* A few years ago, a guy had a Walgreens employee call the cops on him for purchasing too many of these cards

I know that loss prevention at Target is suspicious of people buying these cards... But haven't heard of calling the cops on people for it. Maybe because there's too many instances of someone using a stolen credit card?
