Anyone have both the 4K Max and a cube? Is a cube better overall for streaming? Interested in changing from a 4K Max to the cube mainly due to increased storage. Adding external storage to the 4K Max did not allow most apps to be transferred to it.

The cube has a lot more horsepower than the firestick 4k max.
The picture shows the old remote. Hopefully this is the 2nd gen fire cube, it should be because it says released in 2019.
It can be returned if that's not the case.
If you can live with the Amazon interface the cube is their best performing device.
Is there another streaming device which allows you to use voice command to vary the length of the skip ahead eg skip ahead 2 minutes to skip commercials or skip ahead 20 seconds between football plays?
I have both this cube and a Firestick 4k Max. The Max does a better job. It's wifi gets a better signal, and they both have the same RAM of 2GB. The most pathetic thing on the Cube is the sad assed ethernet adapter-it is 10/100 and slower than wifi. Like, WTF, you couldn't pony up Gigabit on your "best" device?
All you gain from the Cube is more storage space. I don't need a lot, as I only run a few apps, Kodi and Netflix and Prime, Disney+, and Paramount+. The stick max does just fine as long as you use a RAM clearing app to close everything now and again, and it boggles my brain why it is they don't make it so you can just clean close apps on demand on either without having to use a 3rd party app.
For the $23 I paid for the 4K Max, it does just fine and dandy, even when streaming my downloaded remux 4k movies.
Does the Firestick 4k Max allow you to contrl it with your voice? If so, does it process the voice commands locally or in the cloud (I had the 1st gen cube and it took way too long to respond to voice commands)
New 4k Cubes were $36 after Trade-In on Prime Day. I'm pretty sure the same (if not better deal) will be available in 2 months for Black Friday. Any old Firestick will do for trade-in.
And if/when a 3rd Gen Cube is announced, these prices should Really drop. Amazon is holding a press conference on Sept. 28 to announce all their new products.

All sticks are controlled via the remote with Alexa. I guess that would be in the cloud.
Very much possible. I use wolf launcher on my cube, 4k max and two 4k sticks.

Latest updates broke the ability to use a custom launcher. There is a half assed attempt still possible but it is not even close. You are better of using a $20 device that does not restrict you and it runs amazing
I like cubes. That being said, a user here correctly points out that it was cheaper on prime day after trade ins. Another user here points out that it still is WiFi 5 and the USB port is a USB 2 micro usb port, and the adapter is 10/100. Finally a user here claims they can mange the crappy 8gb of storage that ALL Firetv sticks, dongles, pendants, Chromecast, ONN and Tivo 4k streamers have with only 4gb to start with at first boot and only 3gb are available because you need to leave 1gb free to run smoothly.
With all that said I would still buy this over any others because it has 16gb storage with 12gb free at first boot. That helps a lot!
Finally another user points out we kind of expect a 2022 model to be announced in a week. I would expect it to have a upgraded wifi that may or not make a difference to you if you have a wifi6 router. I hope it comes with a USB "C" port so you could use a 10/100/1000 usb hub and adapter. It would also be nice if they offered a 128gb version because it is 2022, but I am not going to hold my breath.
So that leaves us with this. Can you wait a week to see what is announced?
Can you wait 60 days for BF?
Can you deal with a "refurb" (if some one returned it why?)?
I wait for the Announcement, and if it looks like the wish list is going to be of interest, I will dig up a trade and start the process of the trade in around the 31st of October..

I have the others also. And I use Wolf Launcher on all of them. Including the Fire OS devices.
