At $450 these are interesting. If I hadn't just bought HD800s I would give Hifiman another try. My last experience was less than great though, leaving me the impression that they generally sell uncomfortable cans with poor QC. Hopefully that has changed.

Bought these FP deals when they are $700. I guess I'm not surprised they are cheaper now. Not very comfortable at all.

How do they sound though?

You maybe could get different pads for them.

Made in China ! ! !
Hifiman is a Chinese brand, so that's pretty much to be expected.

From the reviews I read the comfort issue is more that they are heavy with a less than great headband design. I'm sure you could mod the headband though to make the contact surface wider and more padded.

I think I'm going to either upgrade to another HIFIMAN or switch to another brand. I did love my 560v2.

They sound good but I don't know about 700 bux good

Do people ever actually spend $1800 on these?

Wow, this price is really tempting. I already have a pair of these and they're great headphones, but I might order a 2nd pair at this price, just to keep a backup pair. I highly recommend these. However, keep in mind these headphones are power demanding. You need a good amp to make them sound great. I have a Burson Soloist 3xp, but a Schiit Jotunheim is good enough.
I have two pairs of these, I was thinking about ordering a third pair at this price in case my first two pair stopped working or I grow two more sets of ears 👂

Hifiman recommends at least 2W / channel @ 50ohm. You can run them with less power but no amp under $200 will properly drive these. The popular budget amps like the Atom, Magni / Heresy, E30, Liquid Spark, etc won't suffice.

The THX 887 from Monoprice was on sale recently for $170 (after coupon code) and that's about as cheap as you can get and have enough power (out of balanced XLR) unless you buy used. Lots of people who upgrade their gear sell off their old stuff at a good price.

The price on these just keeps getting better. They do have issues with driver matching though so something to be aware of.

No, (at least I hope not), a lot of the Adorama exclusives put the MSRP at some insane price so it looks like you're getting some amazing deal.

Cool. They are great for the sale price... super competitive at this price. I'm going to probably try a couple more speaker amp setups, but we'll see. I am hoping to get a Susvara when they start shipping again.

What would you say is the actual MSRP?
