Can confirm it worked in Starbucks app using the gift card reload feature. I "saved" offer in PayPal app, per OP instruction. Opened Starbucks app, reloaded card with $10 and paid with PayPal. Received email from PayPal saying I was only charged $5. Nice.

Worked for me purchasing $10 e-giftcard. Immediately went through and I received an email from PayPal confirming -
