It is way to big to work inside the wheel well but the Ridgid subcompact 3/8” goes up to 250 ft-lbs and is great for confined spaces. Have done caliper bracket bolts, wheel hub bolts, etc with the subcompact and it’s usually available for $99-ish.

I use the 1/4" nut driver ryobi to do lug nuts. It came in some sort of combo kit a while back. Even the little impact driver, meant for screws, will undo lug nuts unless they're inappropriately tight. The 1/4" does nearly 100 ft lbs with a fully charged 4ah battery.

This impact wrench has an Auto shut off setting where you can tighten a lug nut without hammering on it. Then you can torque to spec after.

Yes, it is; especially if you do not have any HP batteries. I really want to buy this, money is tight and I have the 600 fpt one. This one is 1170fpt. More power!!!!

This wrench is large and heavy but it can do just about anything in the garage for a weekend warrior. Very happy with it so far.
The battery comes individually packaged (or at least mine did) so you could resell it if you're one of those people. I gave away a battery to a relative instead.

What do you think - rusty nuts on a boat trailer - doable, or too much to ask?

It is one of the highest torque cordless impacts available, so yes. It likely has enough power to twist off the stud on a rusty nut.

Actually has enough power for large equipment. Lugnuts on a vehicle would be cake for this.

If you are looking for a smaller compact version, this one is $10 more

It's 1lb lighter but has half the breakaway torque.. might be more practical while the OP's would be for the most heavy duty jobs.

1170 ft/lbs can easily break the studs too, depending on the size

Would be a negative in most instances, but I'm looking for something to pull off rusty nuts from the u-bolts on my trailer. If they break off I'm fine with it, so long as I can get the old assembly off the trailer. I need to move some of my roller assemblies for better balance and I'm adding a few rollers, so I've got to remove/break off at least 20 of them.

I got this last time and its amazing. That being said I would very careful with typical car lugnuts. They typically need to be torqued to 80-90 ft lbs, this will snap lugs easy.

This will keep me from pulling out my air compressor to run my pneumatic 1/2" impact gun. Don't need the battery but it's cheaper with it.. a bonus I guess. Thanks, OP!
