Damn, there's a lot of hate for meat-alternative products in this thread. Yeah, it's more expensive, and doesn't taste exactly like meat. Generally, I do like eating real beef and chicken, but sometimes, I just want something with less cholesterol and less environmental impact than beef. Might not be the healthiest, especially on the sodium side, but it's still better than its meat counterpart. That's why I don't mind eating it once in a while.

Have you actually tried the beyond orange chicken at panda express? I thought it was quite good.

It's not supposed to be a healthy alternative. It's for people who just don't/can't eat meat. So probably not for you.

Fact:
Beyond has 3.7x MORE UNHEALTHY SODIUM than real beef.

Fact:
Beyond Orange Chicken:

= 171 mg sodium per oz

Real Orange Chicken:
820 mg in 5.7 oz, which normalizes to
820/5.7
= 144 mg sodium per oz

Fact:
Beyond Orange Chicken has 19% MORE SODIUM than real Orange Chicken.
Now do everything else on the nutrition label...unless there was a reason you chose to focus only on a single nutritional aspect...

Unless you're the only person who doesn't season their beef when cooking it, this is an inaccurate look at the end product. Let us know what you come up with after you add the actual salt used to cook a beef burger.

Not to mention the cholesterol in beef, which plant based meat does not have.

Neither the authentic chicken or Beyond Chicken entrées are particularly healthy--like most offerings at Panda Express.

Indeed more sodium, 10% more on an equal portion basis.

7% more fat which is typical of many near meat products. Beyond Orange Chicken has more saturated fat (11%) than its real chicken counterpart, and more significantly, almost ½ the protein of the real chicken entrée (on an equal wt basis).

Got this for lunch today, I liked the beyond chicken, was pretty close to the real thing. Wouldn't pay extra for it though.

Bolds part of quote where person specifically mentions the lower "cholesterol and less environmental impact than beef." and proceeded to offer "evidence" using an example that fits their narrative because if they actually used beef as an example it wouldn't hold up...

There's even more hate from meat-alternative products' stockholders.

I despise Beyond/Impossible anything products and this was surprisingly good. I may have liked it even better than the kung pao chicken
