It would need to be 5.2.2 at least vs 5.2.
The 2308 is a much better receiver IMO
If you use banana jacks with your binding posts this would not apply.
In fact in reliability, folks avoid binding post and screw type connections because they loosen with thermal cycling. Spring terminals are preferred for industrial automation wiring in high reliability applications.
Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank JimBanville
I prefer banana plugs, but truth is most people connect their speaker wires to their amp/receiver once and leave them for years. These spring terminals don't just spontaneously stop working, and are as easy to connect as binding posts. They're actually EASIER because there's no banana plugs to buy and install. Spring connectors are actually less susceptible to wires being pulled out of them. You could drag an amp around by the speaker wires connected to spring connectors. Banana plugs would simply pull out with little force.
The reasons you stated for preferring banana plugs aren't necessarily wrong, but only matter if you're frequently connecting/disconnecting wires.
Yes, of COURSE I (and the rest of the industrial wiring world) agree that banana jacks (I assume you mean soldered or you have the exact same problems as any other screw based pressure fit) are better than bare wire in spring terminals.
Sorry my original comment was so confusing.

For reasons I cannot figure out, I cannot power this unit OFF with my Harmony 650 remote. It will turn it on when it runs the function macros, but won't turn it OFF. So I have to remember to walk over and hit the power button (or fish the remote out of my coffee table drawer)... which I am really bad about not doing after I fall asleep on the couch watching tv. 50/50 chance of noticing my AVR is still on the next morning.
That sucks, but I assume HDMI-ARC still works to turn this off?
With the new TVs, one Roku and one Android, HDMI ARC and eARC have SUCKED. They're so stinking inconsistent. Doesn't seem to matter the remote, the receiver, or the TV. ARC just sucks. I have found that turning off all ARC features and just letting the harmony remotes do the work is the most reliable. Hell, on the android TV, I've even had to stop using HDMI 1 (eARC) altogether! Even turning the features off causes problems. I plugged in the receiver to HDMI 2, without ARC, and it works better. I'm currently using a Pioneer Elite with Hisense Android TV and a harmony One ultimate with 6 devices connected.
Oh, and before I forget... the Pioneer Elite I'm using has BANANA PLUGS! FTW!
I need to replace a 5 year old receiver because it doesn't work all that great as a central hub for my fire box and smart tv. I want to use the receiver remote for everything. Is this going to work? .

I would expect the firetv remote to be the only remote that you needed.
