Shadow of War will likely be a GOG redeem since we just got Shadow of Mordor on GOG this month.

According to PCGamingWiki [pcgamingwiki.com] you should find your savefile on one of these folders:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\WB Games\Shadow of War\<user-id>_ShadowOfWar.sav (the default location on Windows, should be fine with the GOG version)
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\6DA520A3.1673586F56C6C_ykvmsk3s73586\SystemAppData\wgs\<user-id> (cloud save)

If you end up liking it you may want to pick up the Taurox DLC, his rampage mechanic allows you to beat the game in under 20 turns of pure destruction. Unfortunately, they nerfed it in WH3.

I just played through the first one - Shadow of Mordor last night and already 80% done with Shadow of War on Xbox Game Pass. As I said gameplay is much expanded and improved in Shadow of War but story, settings, and cutscenes are better in Shadow of Mordor.
I would not pay for the DLCs for Shadow of War personally, but everyone can decide after playing the base game.

Thanks for the info but it looks like the save files are encrypted so they cannot be used with GOG right away.
However, I found someone posted a possible workaround using the cheat engine. (see top comment there for details)

Given I only spent a week I will just replay it to get all the achievements on GOG.
It should take less than a week since I am now "experienced".
