It is really hard. You just have to keep playing until you learn where to not get hit. I thought so too but my 5 year old cheered me on until i beat all the bosses in easy mode.... Turns out you have to beat them all in NORMAL mode to reach King Dice and the Devil!!! So yea, I had to play it all over again! But with grit and determination I finally beat it! Still working on the DLC though.

Base game goes on sale often for $13 with the dlc at $7. There's really no rush to buy this now since it's not really discounted. I would buy the base and if you're wanting more then get the dlc.

I grew up on the NES and was able to beat all levels of the base on easy and normal without too much trouble. I'm through the first two islands with A+ on each battle. You just need patience to find out what weapons work best and learn patterns.

Anyone scared off by "too hard" comments, don't be. I don't actually know why people have found it so difficult. I beat it in about 8 hours total. It's just memorization and repetition mostly. Gameplay is an utter joy and the graphics are obviously excellent. Easily worth a playthrough.
