For me, The discount was applied after order is submitted inside pp. you click the transaction and it should say "special offer $5" subtracted within that transaction

Where are you guys seeing these offers?? When I look at my deals on PayPal they are nowhere to be found. However, when I use the direct links to the offer I am able to save them

Not worried as I've been doing these Paypal offers for the past couple of years and never had any issues. All my transactions have been finalized and gift cards have been used. If they were to back out of a transaction that has already been processed and then recharge you, that is highly illegal and will be the easiest CC chargeback win ever.

I'll outline a few more data points in case anyone is interested:

1. After you activate a coupon. Refresh the page and scroll all the way to the bottom. This is where it shows all your active coupons. I use this to confirm that the coupon has been correctly applied to the account.

2. Paypal has pulled coupons before due to the SD effect, however if you were able to activate the coupon prior to them removing the coupon (and confirm it's still showing through Step #1), it should still be valid on the account. Regardless, as with anything on SD, I suggest you use the coupon asap as the early bird gets the worm.

3. It bears mentioning again to use Paypal as your source of payment for the entire transaction. A lot of of people such as myself already have a credit card set as a default payment source for all these ecommerce sites. And in their haste, they rush through the checkout process and end up using their credit card instead of Paypal for their payment. Make sure to double check that you are indeed using Paypal and that it is the same Paypal account that the offer was activated on.

4. After the purchase, you should receive a confirmation email from Paypal. In that e-mail, it'll state that "You saved $X with your Special Offer" and in the payment details, it'll show the discount from your total payment. From my experiences, the discount has never shown on the merchant checkout screen, only on the confirmation e-mail from Paypal once you have made the purchase.

Be careful using paypal offers.When checking out using paypal ,if you get an error message after trying to submit your order,DON'T try to submit it again.Most likely the order will show pending in your Paypal account with the offer having been used even though there is no order showing as being placed at the website your trying to order from. If you get the error message after submitting your order ,consider your coupon (offer) lost.
The pending charges will eventually drop off someday.
