Pretty much all the popular doorbells are super basic without subscription. For ring, without a sub, they won't store anything so it's just real-time view only. Eufy doorbells might be what you want as it's local storage.
I would disagree, it's low cost but horrible security flaw. You can record up to 30seconds max per clip. Then you must wait a minimum of 10 seconds cool down before it records again. Also, if you go live, you can't save the clip.
It would be better if they had a sale on their recently hiked subscriptions.

Is it worth getting a 2nd generation or wired one? What do you guys recommend?
the wired one is better even tho it's cheaper, i "upgraded" to the wired one from gen2, it has pre roll and better quality

I hate that the new generations don't have wired versions. Why do they keep pushing for rechargeable ones?

Some folks don't know/want to wire them. Or have to put a new line at certain parts of the house. I do my own electrical work so it's no issue for me. Some parts of the house though I don't want to have conduits sticking out. Some of my wireless cameras are attached to a tree or my pergola.

I have a ring doorbell from 3 yrs ago and it is so unreliable. Sometimes it tries to connect for 15 seconds before giving an error message. I find that closing and reopening the app sometimes works, but it's very hit or miss. I have an extender right inside the house. Wondering if this is hardware and a newer doorbell would work better.

This is my reasoning as I do not have previously ran wires. I would presume it would cost pretty penny to run new wires?

Last I checked Romex wires got more expensive. I recently added more outlets and 2 floodlights outside my house tapped from the original garage outlet and that cost around $100 doing my own work.

If you can do your own work or willing to learn from YouTube, you'll just need to tap into an outlet like I did and your only cost would be the Romex, metal box and conduit.

Starting a new line though from the circuit breaker is one I haven't done yet. Same with fishing lines through the wall.

What I used to do with my flood light is cut an extension cord and use the cut part and wire it to the floodlight. Make sure to keep the wiring safe and properly secured in a metal electrical box. Then you can just plug it in an outlet.

What's the security flaw?

I personally like mine and with the USB function of the blink 2 hub it doesn't cost anything.

It's not as good as a ring for sure but for the price I really don't mind what I'm missing.

So far it hasn't missed anything important.

Blink has local storage with the add-on sync module 2. It will run you $35 if you don't catch it on sale. Once you add the $49 for the door camera + sync module 2, you're still paying less than the Ring price.

I agree. I can see it it being an issue for people who aren't constantly at their phones but I usually see every alert and often watch alerts in live mode once I get them. I wouldn't buy the Blink without the Sync Module 2 because the live mode is an important feature. The only bad thing is you can't save lives with the module without a subscription. I'm keeping my subscription anyway. $30 a year is not bad for a single camera.

Guys, would I be able to use the wireless ring if I don't want to use the monthly subscription?

It would be nice if it held the recorded videos for 24-48 hours. I don't need nothing beyond that.

Can someone enlighten me on how this works?
You can't get any recordings without subscription

Exactly then again maybe they need security in a LCOL area on a 25k house then Eufy is the way. I spend more on coffee in 1 day than the subscription price.

I hve the original ring doorbell. I want to look at upgrading. I have a wired connection, so I'd prefer wired. What would be the best version to upgrade to?
