Wth lol. 5 inch is 5 inch. If someone ordered hoping the 5 inch screen will be bigger than your 6.1 inch screen on iPhone then clearly they don't know how simple numbers work and hence should have stayed away from ever purchasing any "smart" devices and then leaving comments about it.
Having said that I do own both Echo show 5 and 8 and 5 is definitely is small screen but it doesn't matter you use it mostly as a smart clock, to stream music or audiobooks and general notifications and stuff from Amazon. You can use this as a home camera when you are away and also use the drop-in feature to make video calls when you are away. And if you have it placed on your desk or pretty close to you, you can also it as video feed for your ring, wyze cameras and doorbells. But please be mindful that "5 inch screen" is actually 5 inches and will smaller in size than any screen which is larger than 5 inches..because you know that's how numbers work..

Alexa isn't great at answering random questions, but it's far superior for smart home devices than Google. I have a Google Nest Hub and a bunch of Nest Minis, and they're the buggiest hubs I've ever used. They are constantly disconnecting from my devices, crashing and restarting randomly, and respond to my voice less consistently than my Alexa devices. Alexa has been rock solid for home automation, and it's pretty universally agreed upon that they're far ahead of the others in that regard.

Fully agree with the comment. Its too small. I bought the bigger one and have been satisfied mostly with it. Wish I could customize the slideshow screen to not show tips and only show what I want and what I want alone. Memes. Weather. And a shopping list. I'm not as familiar with these bulbs, i know I've gotten Kaza lights and have had no issue, and they have gone on sale down to $5 during Black Friday sales, but are usually $10-$15

Screen is pretty small. I use it as an accessory on my computer desk. Works great for that. For a room scale device, though, way too small.

Yes. Screen is small. This is designed for a nightstand to replace your clock. The bigger ones are for other places. This is a good device for its intended purpose and this is a great deal IF you want the bulbs.

i got this for one of my daughters. I thought it was too small, so i got the 8" version for my other daughter. she didn't want it, said it was too big. so i guess there are people who like the smaller screen for some applications.

I traded my echo 5 1 Gen for 2nd gen which gets 25% instant trade in credit plus $20 gift card. Current price for echo 5 second Gen $34.99- 8.75 (25%credit) -$20( trade in instant gift card) , total cost to the 2nd $6.24. Not bad. If you have something to trade in this deal not good as it does not provide extra 25% instant credit towards a new echo device

to be pedantic it probably is bigger than a 6.1 iphone screen because of aspect ratios. It might even be bigger than a 6.8 iPhone or whatever the biggest one is. Typically smartphones are very tall and narrow, maybe 19:9 or more, so the high diagonal number doesnt lead to as much actual surface area as nominally smaller diagonal 16:9 or 4:3 displays.

To echo what everybody else has said I'm kinda craving the small screen one now. Will be good to put by my bed and view security cams in the middle of the night without taking up room. i just hate the dangling cord, my regular echo non show i got one of those mounts that attaches it to your electric outlet. obviously cant do that with show.

I doubt it but anybody know if they improved the display quality on the newest generation of show 5's?? My last gen 5 had/has a pretty crud washed out display (understandable given the price), where my current gen 8 has a surprisingly high quality, warm glowy IPS. But i'd imagine that due to it being in a higher quality bracket rather than the generation.

also fwiw the old gen is slower than molasses and new one not all that much better despite beefier cpu. not sure why they dont just use their smooth tablet OS that they ALREADY HAVE.

Lost me with Alexa.
If there was ever a Blonde Bimbo in this world, Alexa would have to be it.
Alexa knows nothing..can find the answer to nothing.
And the few answers that Alexa can find are not even close to the questions that I ask. Alexa can tell the time....Alexa can tell you the weather....and SOMETIMES..Alexa can find the song that you asked for. Beyond that, you will just stand there wondering why you even tried to get blood from a stone and asked in the first place.

As always, it totally depends on your use case. I have two, one upstairs on my nightstand and one downstairs on my work desk. I use them primarily as screens for my Ring doorbell, to see if I want to go down/up stairs to answer it, to control my music, lights, and temp with Alexa, and to serve as a simple desk clock. They work fine for all that. And because of their location, I wouldn't want anything that took up any more space.

I don't get complaining about the size when the size is clearly listed. You know how big it is before you order. So if you buy this to watch Netflix or serve as a digital picture frame, it sucks, not because it's a bad product, but because you were stupid to order a 5" screen for that use.
