So your actual have to setup a website to use cloud flare to get the deal? Seems like I couldn't get through the process without updating the registrar
No, it's unrelated.

States clearly after clicking activate offer:

"Thank you! Within 1-3 business days, Yubico will send an email to the address associated with your Cloudflare account."

Worry if you haven't heard anything by Tuesday.

Maybe not. Yubi did a $5 deal with a subscription to WIRED mag a couple+ yrs back.
I remember that. It was $5 for a year of Wired and a free Yubikey. I signed up for 4 years of Wired for $20 and was sent 4 free Yubikeys.

If see. I restrict it further than that. No NGINX proxy or port forwarding and sync via VPN into the VW server only when needed since it stores locally on each device after syncing. So no direct exposure to WAN
That setup is simpler and more secure. Unfortunately I can't use my home VPN at work network (hence the IP restriction)

Just signed up for a cloudflare account for this deal. Even if you select the free plan, it wants you to put in payment info. If you just cancel out of that screen and then reopen the deal link, you can still claim the offer without having to save payment information on your account ahead of time.
Thanks. Worked. Just got to wait for email now.

True. This is why, as I mentioned before, using long, random, unique passwords for each site is important. That's easy to accomplish with a password manager like Bitwarden. Putting the password manager behind a physical token is a serious security improvement as well.
Which sadly does you no good when an attacker does a sim swap on you.

Wow I didn't know there was a such thing! Just claimed it and waiting for the code. Thanks for the share!

In the world we live in now, it doesn't hurt to protect yourself especially with everything being on the internet/in the cloud.

I wonder if this is a response to the whole kiwifarms thing.

Has anybody confirmed that the 5C nano is/is not part of this promotion? Not looking likethat's the case but I just wanted to confirm.
