This is the only B+ on Crinable's list that is affordable right now.

I believe the point of the comment was that these are not $150 earphones. The price history for this year on Amazon ranges from $70 to $100. $50 is a great price for them because it's still almost a 30% discount over the lowest price they've been on Amazon.

Also, there are many reviews commenting on the poor quality cable. It is at least detachable though, which means it can be replaced.

How do these compare to the ER2XR?
ER2 is a dynamic driver. ER3 and 4 are both single balanced armatures. XR variants are more bassy than SE variants.

All their headphones are very detailed but the fit won't be for everyone.

This is a good price but the competition is so strong that it really depends what kind of sound signature and fit profile (these are basically earplugs) you're looking for because there are a lot of options.

No, what you want are these Etymotic ER20's, which are made just for that. https://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-E...B0015WJQ7A.

That list is useless and entirely subjective unfortunately. On my list these Etymotics grade as an 'A'.

Yes, these are essentially earplugs that pipe music to your eardrums. They block out similar amounts of noise. But why wouldn't you use regular earplugs at concerts?

The cheaper etymotic ones are cheaper for a reason. Though we get a great bargain for the sound, their build quality is so poor. The cables break off where it connect to the tips after a while

I currently use these a lot. I love the foam plugs, perfect seal and great sound isolation. I used them on flights, and makes ANC moot because of how well they seal up. Foam also helps them not feel like they're too deep in your ear like the other tips.

Can someone recommend a good Bluetooth adapter to use with these? I don't trust amazon reviews

This is a better IEM than the er4. Not too much bass. This is a great deal on very good IEMS

I think this is about as low as I've seen a new ER2/3/4 series, as usual, from Adorama. Thus, not a bad option to pull the trigger on if want to try the Etymotic ER2/3/4 series or the ER3 series if you already have ER4 and/or ER2. Having tried multiple in the ER series, from my experience, the biggest factor is tip fit and not slight differences in sound between the 6 models (8 if you count that ER3SE and ER3XR are like 2 IEM's in one since an adapter or resistor can be used to make them sound more like ER4SE and ER4XR). In a blind test, I am not sure that I could ID an SE vs. an XR model, or Balanced Armature (BA) driver (ER3 & ER4) vs. Dynamic Driver (DD) (ER2) based on bass timbre (like Crinacle makes a distinction). At the low prices ER2 and ER3 can get down to, it is not unaffordable to get different models and compare.

If you do not like the deep insertion of 3-flange tips (or heard stories they are uncomfortable to some), you might consider the 2-flange tips. There are 4 different sized "Etymotic Research Dual Flange Eartips for use with Etymotic Earphones" for sale at Amazon. S, M, L, XL. The XL are very comfortable to me, don't feel intrusive or too deep into the ear at all, and provide great isolation--seems like 30+ dB. The fit is so much better than I get with the various tip types on non-Etymotic brands, it is hard to go with any other brand given the high performance to price ratio of Etymotic.

A pair of Ety's at this price might be worth it just for use in noisy environments. Of course, you won't get the high dB isolation without good fit. If you can find the right tip for your ears, then you can more safely purchase the more expensive ER4 series as the tips will work the same on those as the cheaper ER2 or ER3 series. I would not want to buy ER4 and then then discover that no tip works quite right. Although even ER4 can go for not too much if get less than new at Amazon.

I have seen some ER3SE fans online or people who like it best out of the 6 (or however many of the 6 they tried). In the same price range, the ER2 series seems to have more fans and acclaim from prominent reviewers. Crinacle recommends both ER2XR and ER2SE, with a preference for the ER2XR. Oluv says, "get the ER2SE, it is by far the best Etymotic." ER2SE seems to usually be in low 70s new on amazon and down to low 50s used. Is new ER2SE worth $20+ more than new ER3SE? The differences are pretty slight I'm guessing for a lot of people who do not have golden ears or have hearing damage. On the other hand, to some people, 20 or so bucks is nothing to get the model they would choose if the price were the same. One might try this ER3, and then if a tip works for you, trying an ER2 to compare.

wish i could figure this out. i have a pair of these myself that i use more than anything else because of the built in mic, but i know there must be better out there. i love the triple flange personally, so it makes me curious if these are a worth while buy despite no mic.
lunashops sells replacement Etymotic cables. options include bluetooth, microphone, and more.

I got a pair of ER3XR as a backup for my ER4XR. I am currently using the ER3XR, as the ER4XR are being serviced under warranty.

If you keep your phone in a pocket, be careful not to stress the 3.5mm connector, as a wire can break.

ER3XR are excellent, but I miss the punchy bass of the ER4XR.

Thanks for sharing the Lunashops site. I would like to add a mic to this. I see that there are two that are compatible - a black and a tan. The black one looks more interesting to me. Do you have any experience with adding a cable with mic to a Etymotic ER3SE?

To properly get the seal for bass, you have to corkscrew these in your ears after stretching the ear with your other hand.

There is an instruction video on this.

I can't wear these series for more than an hour at time.

As opposed to the 3-flange, you might try the "Etymotic Research Dual Flange Eartips for use with Etymotic Earphones". The problem is there are 4 sizes (S,M,L,XL) so might not find the best fit on first or second try--and they are expensive for tips. The XL provides a great seal for me and are comfortable.
