Same on the alert! What a great deal on a solid entry level scope that I really can't justify right now... please stop, slickdeals!

Siglent is definitely a value-for-money option. I'd noticed a few years back where Keysight had started creating some nice offers in the education space for entry-level oscilloscopes, but they simply don't have to try as hard as their competitors. So many modern oscilloscopes from even basic brands (also see Rigol) are simply incredible devices well beyond the needs of an average hobbyist. Everyone sets their own needs/budget and honestly for me I've never beat the value and need for much beyond my old Analog Discovery 2 that I grabbed at a sub-$200 education discount way back when...

Good luck!

After watching a 15 minute tutorial on this device I still have no idea what it does.

Yep, I did this to mine. Keep in mind it's a 1GSa/s scope (500MSa/s if you use 3 or 4 channels) so 200mhz is pushing it a bit. You can also, um, liberate the other licensed functions pretty easily. Or you could when I bought it. Check eevblog forums to see if they fixed any of the hacks with newer firmware.

Lowest price in last 5 years according to triple C. Usually $500. This model is hackable to become 200MHz, and will then identify as the SDS1204X-E in firmware/on display. That is a $775 oscilloscope.

This is a good price for this scope, I paid more than $500 last year. Barely used it yet, wish I waited.

Dang, I don't remember the last time my Siglent alert went off. Thanks OP. Good deal, but I went with a faster 2 channel a while back and added a Hantek USB Oscilloscope for 16 ch for probing/logic.

Based on my research you can hack this 100mhz one to 200mhz. Instruction are all online.

Siglent (along with Rigol) are what many would consider a 2nd tier manufacturer of test gear (1st tier being companies like Keysight, Tektronics, etc). They actually got their start making entry level scopes for one of the big scope manufactures (don't recall off the top of my head who).

They make good scopes for the price and are a solid choice for lower cost gear. I have this scope, their SDG2042X AWG, a bench meter (SDM3045X ), and one of their power supplies (SPD1305X) and all have worked well for me.

Thank for the advice. I'm just getting into it. Figured this will be a good one. Hope I can still hack it. Will try after I get the device.

Agilent spun off their electronics measurement side to Keysight.

Over the decades, I have had a Tek 544 (tube), 465, and 2465. Now I have this Slglent and I love it. I have used its decoding to verify I2C and SPI, and soon, CAN. I think it is really cool that I can connect to it with my web browser and see the display and controls on my computer monitor. The probes are labeled 100mhz, but someone on EEVBlog (I believe) tested them for much higher.

Damn this is tempting. I could use one with ~half the capability at half the price.
