So you have this but don't use the part that has the most consistent complaints, and are blaming those complaints on user error? OK...

Bought one, barely used it and the handle died just from being outside under a deck. Also having a giant can of gas may be handy but it's also HEAVY. Lifting this in and out of a vehicle when it's full is a pain.

Yes, years ago I researched this and saw many bad reviews pointing out a short life (cheap materials/construction).

Think those reviews are because they treat stuff like most others "without a care or concern in the world" I have been using this same exact unit for bet than 10yrs to fill my CUT I just do not use the machine enough to warrant a better outfit and yes it is a diesel and this is a gas RED I just leave it in bed of pu when I fill it but this has worked flawlessly. I do not use the pump part though I just lift it in the bucket and let gravity do its job an never ran anything else out it

These are ridiculously heavy when filled.

I'd recommend 5 gallon tanks and automatic battery powered pump/siphon

I have/use 2 of these. I'm lazy so I use a small external fuel pump and a battery. Holds gas well enough and has a screw to allow it to vent. At max capacity the wheels don't rotate well. For $110 it's a decent deal. Need quite a few of these if you plan to run your generator for a few days. Mine uses 5ish gallons every 6 hours at half load. Most people underestimate how much gas they need.

Many states have a 5 gallon limit on the size of container you can fill at the station, and may have a limit of how many you can haul at once, so check before you buy this.

Gas is about 6.5 lbs a gallon so 14 gallon is about 90 lbs. No surprise there.

Bought 2 a few years ago to have fuel on hand for emergencies. I use the fuel in my lawnmower and other equipment and refill when out. I also keep fuel stabilizer in the fuel. I keep mine inside a shed and they have held up well and had no issues with them. The pump/handles have had no issues. To be fair, the pump is a pain to fill large tanks so I would go with an alternative method for large fills. This is a decent price.
