Also check manufacture date on the box before you open these. They all have 10 year max lives and will automatically deactivate at year ten (by law)

On sale because they're all old stock, half the life half the price.

Wasn't expecting such a fast delivery (4 hours). For reference, I ordered 3. The manufacture dates are as follows:

#1 - 33rd Week of 2022
#2 - 30th Week of 2022
#3 - 20th Week of 2021

Sorry, but numerous sites and warranty fine print say 7 years max. You have any exceptions?

All of them probably go longer and even past 10 years if allowed, but even Nest's warranty is only 4 years on devices with smoke and co detection WHEN YOU HAVE A PROFESSIONAL INSTALL IT (otherwise it's 3 years).

Might want to do some homework before getting assertive and thumbing down comments.

You state that CO detectors are only good for 7 years max which is blatantly FALSE. Plenty of CO detectors are 10 years. It's right on the Nest Protect product page! "10-year CO sensor" You're saying that google is lying to their customers and leaving their customers unknowingly unprotected for 3 years and is going to take on the liability of people's lives for 3 years over a $100 product? Um, no, they're not. There are a LOT of 10 year CO detectors out there.

A warranty is NOT the same as the lifespan of a product. It has a lower warranty because they don't know how you are going to misuse/abuse the product. But in normal circumstances it should last 10 years. And that's why it tests itself regularly to ensure that it is working, and if it's not then it rightfully goes out of service. Any product has the chance of a malfunction at any time, but it is still rated for a specific amount of time... 10 years in this case. But a company could choose to not have a warranty at all. Warranty is completely unrelated to lifespan!

You just read one old article and think you're an expert. But you want to argue with a 20+ year career firefighter that has multiple college fire degrees, is a HAZMAT Technician, and is a state Fire Inspector? I've done my homework bro... you should probably do yours.

Lastly, I had not thumbs down your other post, but since you brought it up I went back and did since you are going to ASSume I did. But obviously others know you are wrong too.

Edit to add: Here's a link to a 10yr CO detector with 10yr warranty on Slickdeals... since they don't exist and all. LMAOPeace

Mine were 2015 and 2016. Going to return them. Now that the stock has been depleted at most stores, I'm not sure how I could exchange these for ones manufactured more recently.

Costco sometimes has these on sale for around $84 per smoke detector. Have purchased 10 and they all were manufactured within 3 months.

5 or 6 year old detectors, even for half that price, is ridiculous, especially with the earlier models being prone to false alarms.
