I have the previous model of the 7.2.4( non-eARC ) and man I tell you it sounds pretty damn good. I guess the 2 subwoofers and 2 back speakers make a difference, max volume is 50 and at 20 my basement already shaking. You get an immersive sound experience with some thundering bass similar to the movie theater but the sound might not be as crystal clear( like dialog ) as some top-notch speakers. I can't compare it with Sony or Samsung's top soundbar system since I have never owned them but it sure blows my previous Bose Soundbar(just the bar & sub ) out of the water. I'm sure the 9.2.4 model is out of this world with 2 more speakers but that is too much for my small basement. But with every system, I do have some complaints though( pro & con below ). I paid $750 for this system, Black Friday of 2020.

PRO
- Immersive sound experience with thundering bass( 2 subwoofers ), theater-like experience
- The build-in sound processing called SSE does justice for Atmos & DTSX coding, sound feels like it surrounds you and sometimes overhead
- Wireless subwoofer
- Does a good job upscaling sound input, like take stereo sound and turn into surround sound. It can take regular 5.1 Dolby and turn it into Atmos( object-based sound )
- Price is a little cheaper than other top-brand( samsung, sony ) system

CON
- no eARC( for my model ) but I have a workaround that so see Note below
- music doesn't sound good, just decent. My previous Bose soundbar sound superior for music
- no wifi connection only bluetooth( the newer model might have this support )
- the subwoofer is wireless but not the back speakers( which connect using wire into the sub )
- is not plug&play and you have to tweak settings here and there to your liking
- the speakers material feels like cheap plastic and design is kinda ugly for my taste
- the remote is kinda confusing, there is a button for everything so it's not as user friendly

Note: as I mentioned about the eARC workaround earlier. If you decide to save some money and buy the previous model then you can use the workaround if you want to use eARC features. I bought the eARC Audio Extractor below to fix this issue, I paid $40 for that a while back.

Had the 9.2 version for a few years. It is beyond amazing. I do not go to the theaters anymore! Thanks for the post, just bought the new upgraded version, been waiting for a sale. On their site, they also promised a 90 day price guarantee Applause

*90 Day Price Match Guarantee
Purchase with confidence! From 10/11 onwards, if you find a brand new Shockwafe (same model) sold at a lower price by authorized retailers within 90 days of your purchase, we will refund the difference.

Blows the Samsung away by a mile for the 9.2 version. The two extra surround speakers and extra sub is hard to beat. The Samsung surround speakers are wireless and Nakamichi connects to the subwoofers via wires but that is not a big deal for me. Since the subs are wireless, I just place them on each side of my couch.

They made a bunch of crap products in the early 2010s. Cannot speaker for other categories but their soundbars then after are excellent. My 9.2 soundbar is the best I'd heard vs Samsung and Sony.

I will give this for Nakamichi…their customer support is great. They will always get back with you in a detailed manner to help you resolve issues. Not sure if Samsung would do the same as I've never owned a Samsung product…but I'm guessing the answer is no. The Nakamichi "ninjas" are awesome and will get any issues solved for you.

I doubt it. This is a "promoted" deal, and like another poster noted, this was a brand that Sears was basically giving away in the early 2010's when their business model seemed to be giving things away in exchange for Shop Your Way Points. At the time it seemed pretty obvious that Nakamichi was one of those brands like Polaroid, where the name was bought by a company that wanted. To milk the name on a bunch of middle of the road and low end electronics.

I'd take the positive feedback with a grain of salt. If you buy these, the best you are gonna be able to say is you got "your money's worth".
This is NOT the same junk sears used to sell, over the last few years they have poured in tons of $$ into research and improving their quality to get back to their original standards. I personally own the 9.2.4 SSE and i agree with every word the above posters have mentioned. The surround and overhead effects are simply amazing. Again with any Atmos system it would depend largely on speaker placement and construction of your room/space but these do a pretty darn good job of creating overhead and surround effects. I wouldnt hesitate to purchase this again if i ever needed one and space was a limitation. It probably wont beat a true surround setup for the same price but gets pretty close to it.

The bar does, but the satellites don't, that's the main reason I haven't purchased these.

EDIT: I've now been corrected. Sorry about the misinformation. Not even the main bar has upfiring speakers. Nakamichi handles height with special processing. Right or wrong, I plan to get the Samsung instead for this reason.

I purchased the Nakamichi Shockwafe Pro 7.1.4 Channel 600W Dolby Atmos Soundbar with 8" Wireless Subwoofer for an absolute steal (open box for $510) about a year an a half ago.

There is nothing cheap or junk sears electronics that other commentors have stated.

The system is fantastic, crisp and booming for my 85" home theater system.

Customer service is stellar. Setup is a breeze, nothing negative to say.

I am the type of guy that absolutely obsesses over reviews and I go way too far into researching things before I buy them, hope that addiction helps someone here Smilie
