Back in the day, I had subscriptions to Sound & Vision, Home Theater Mag, Stereophile etc. I'm familiar w/ the methods used to analytically measure/quantify specs and throw "real world" scenarios at a receiver. Basic concepts like quality toroidal transformers, individual amp modules w/ dedicated power supplies, shielding, thicker gauge cases etc. do make a difference to an extent. It's what the Pioneer Elite, Sony ES and higher Denon/Marantz models employed, for their $1k+ models.

As w/ any subjective opinions, such as wine or other things, if it's good to you, that's all that matters. As some have noted, wattage/power is relevant as far sound pressure levels relating to the efficiency of your speakers and the size of your room. If you're in an apartment/condo, no sense in trying to create theater-level sound levels. Good enough is good enough.

My rants are simply an effort to point out to anyone interested, the value proposition of recent models and where they focus, and whether the value is there for some but not for others. If it's a fit, buy it.

Checked 3 Costcos in Houston so far, bunker hill didn't have any (had a stack earlier this week at $399), Greenway and Willowbrook both still $499.
Checked sugar land last night, it was 499 also.

I have a question about the latency of audio when I stream audio from my Amazon FireTV 4K (connected to my laptop), to this receiver VIA bluetooth. I experience about 2 second of audio delay. That means I watch the video using my laptop and hear audio using receiver.
I know this is not a typical use case for most of people. Any advise how I can address the latency issue if some one happens to know the answer.

$350 is a hell of a deal. But how would a 950H be for effectively $50 more or X1600H for $100 more? (10% cash back through some sites). Denon currently has some refurb specials
AVR-S960H. $550
S950H. $450
S760H. $450
S750H. $400
X1600H. $500
X1700H. $550
What's important to me 7.2.2(4) atmos etc., seems like everything has BT and Ethernet and HDMI. Audio signal would come through projector pass through via hdmi.

Off the top of my head I believe those are 7 channel receivers and they can not expand to 9 let alone 11.

If that's the case those will not be a good choice for what you are looking for(7.2.2(4) atmos).

I think I may be counting incorrectly. This would be a 7 speaker system (3 front, 2 rear, 2 back), 2 subs. I'm assuming any 7.2 atmos capable receiver would be able to add 2 atmos (ceiling) speakers to give 7.2.2?
Or do you have to drop to 5.2.2 to get those 2 atmos speakers. Meaning I really need a 9.2 system?

Every speaker needs amplification.

Im not sure jumping up to 9 channel "Atmos" is worth it unless you have an optimal setup with quality speakers.
