On top of that, if you paid with gift cards you bought at !0% or 15% off (with Chase PayPal offer) over the weekend, that bundle would have cost just a little over $200 or even below that in the end.

Yeah, that's probably the best price for a new Xbox Series X. If you don't mind going to refurbished route, certain American Express card holders have received 100 off of 500 in the Microsoft store. A refurbished Series X is $469 there. So, with a potential filler (depending on if your sales tax rate is getting you above the threshold) you you could be getting a Series X for a price potentially in the $300s.

Good timing if I were to buy it. I'm almost tempted cause my Pro controller started drifting like crazy just 2-3 days ago. And I'm in the middle of a repeat Bayonetta play through. I wanted to replay the first 2 games before part 3 comes out. Were my favorite Wii U games. But now i had to shift to using joycons. And playing Bayonetta with joycons sucks (those Alfheims are taking me twice as long now that I'm in my 40's - no twitch reflexes; not that I ever had any).
However I decided against buying the Pro controller despite the discount. That's cause I'm really disappointed by how the first one failed. Even though it's out of warranty, I didn't really use it much in terms of hours. It shouldn't have failed that soon (playtime wise). And I read Nintendo charges $40 (+shipping?) for a fix. Might as well get a new one.
If I were to buy a new one, I'm sure eventually the new one will cause problems as well. I don't want to pay Nintendo for overpriced hardware. And so I preordered the 8bitdo ultimate instead (releases Oct 28th). It's $70, but I would rather pay $10 more for better build quality. It's got Hall effect joysticks so hopefully won't drift. Plus the extra features it has, and it can even wake the switch from sleep.
If you read the Amazon pre-order page, multiple people have asked the same thing. And a company's rep has answered this each time. The 8bitdo controller will be able to wake the switch from sleep; just that instead of pressing a button, one would have shake the controller.
