I like sound quality... i dont buy total crap when it comes to headphones or speakers, but at the same time, does this make 500 dollars worth of noticeable difference when you listen to things? if so what is it? better sound separation? wider stage? more range?

I can't speak for this amp, but in general high quality amps do make a huge difference — this is not what would be considered high-end though.

The short answer is no, this will not make a difference.
I have a $200 Topping headphone amp to drive some high impedance headphones when plugged into my Windows computer. I can plug those headphones into my MacBook Pro and the sound is exactly the same, as far as I can tell. I know this makes me not a true "audiophile" but these high end headphone amps are not needed (the same is true for my Topping amp). If someone wants them and has the money to spend, that's fine. If someone thinks this will make the music they listen to or create better, fine. Will this actually improve the quality of the music? Probably not. Any subjective improvements are likely placebo effects.

What you hear will also depend on your DAC... plus with the headphones you have, you will most likely not hear any difference. Plus, seeing you're asking if it's worth to buy a $500 amp and you own a 'gaming' headphones and asking if you will hear noticeable difference... "you" will waste your money on this good amp.

Depends on what type of sound you want for the music you listen to & enjoy.
Long story short, Topping will be more clinical and dry when compared to the Monolith, especially out of the box. All amps will effect the sound they reproduce. Different tubes and/or tube combinations will effect the sound differently, which is why you buy a tube amp.

I have the THX789, but wanted something different. The ASR review suggests the tubes are not affecting the sound that much. Maybe I should look for a different tube amp.
awesome thanks! so if i spent 10,000.00 on headphones then would i? but if i DID do that shouldnt i spend at least 5000 on an amp to be respected?

The best Tube Headphone Amp tested by ASR, so if you have to have tubes, this is the one to get.
