You pay $15 to sign up to be a "GameStop Pro" member for a year in-store, and you immediately get a $5 off coupon you can use to buy this game.

You can also sign up online but others have stated that there is a delay before your Pro membership reflects online, so you might miss this deal.

Or you can skip today's deal and wait for a sign-up bonus that happens a few times a year where they give you an additional $10-off one-time coupon for signing up.

After you sign up, you keep getting a $5 off coupon on the first day of every month that expires at the end of the month, until your Pro membership expires in a year.

If you are logged into your account and browsing GameStop, sometimes they adjust the prices to show you the final "price-after-coupon" while you browse. This is the part that people call "sneaky" because people think they are browsing regular prices and that they can stack another coupon on top of the adjusted price. You cannot stack another coupon at checkout because the website is already showing you the price after your coupon. Some people just can't put two-and-two together and think GameStop is over-charging them. It's annoying, but you just have to keep this adjusted price in mind or browse GameStop while logged-out to see normal pricing.

At current prices, you pay $15 and get $60 in coupons. So yes, for most people, it's worth it.

For someone who is not a Pro member, is it still worth it at this time? I've seen posts about Gamestop being sneaky and changing what qualifies for the $5 monthly credit but I still don't quite understand what's going on.

Thank you for this. How about using the monthly $5 for Nintendo eShop card or something like that? Will that still work now?

No, the website will not allow you to use 5 off $5, and the physical stores only carry $10 cards and higher. So you would need to buy at least $10 card. If you do that, by end of 12 months, you will have $120 in cards for $75 ($60 + $15 annual fee) - not a bad deal.

At least as of last month I was able to redeem the monthly $5 in store for a digital $5 Eshop code (printed on receipt). Just had to ask the cashier. Online the reward would only apply to $10 Eshop card otherwise it would not apply on the $5 card by itself.

Pretty much personal preference as to "worth", the games aren't cards, play them or don't.
I would like to. I'll probably just rent one from GameFly tbh. Thanks for the help.

WTF My earned Gamestop Pro rewards (not the monthly $5 one), will not apply to any of these Pokemon games. I thought they are like bestbuy rewards certificate that can be applied to any purchase (regular or sale price). I don't see Pro Deals as an exclusion on the coupon terms.

Same here. Redeemed points and the award was not applicable to anything Pokemon tcg related.

I haven't played much since red and blue and gold/silver.

I personally was a blue/gold guy.

Any recommendations on a good one to start with after a loooooong time away. I'm a full adult male.
