Was about to pull trigger at Kohl's ($10 Kohl's cash), but figured I'd look at Target and they had $20 off $70 home items and this qualified. Also had my $500 gift card that was 10% off.

Effectively making this $53 after taxes.

…for syrup, the cheapest and very tasty way , is to use kool-aid packs and sugar to make a concentrated syrup. It will cost you ~$0.50 to make a syrup. Chill in fridge before using so you don't melt your shaved ice when pouring. …. Should cost you around 1/2 a buck to make around 30-50 snow cones this way!

I love mine. Have owned it for about three months and use it at least five days a week. Makes a wonderfully fluffy ice. I use Monin syrups as well as thawed juice concentrates for flavoring.

Any particular place you pick up the syrup from?

I bought this at the above mentioned QVC sale about 3 months ago. It did come with the eight ice molds which is nice. Having used it probably 20 times or so I can say I really enjoy it and so does my family.

Clean up is a breeze when you're using ice and not too bad if using frozen juice. All the parts that would come in contact with the frozen puck disconnect for easy cleaning.

We freeze water, lemonade, orange juice, and other fruit juices to make adult snow cones by adding alcohol. We've only bought the torani syrups at a local chef supply store but the kids seem to enjoy it.

You can get a commercial ice shaver / snow cone machine on ebay for about $50. I have one and it turns a cup of ice into snow in a few seconds. Very powerful and loud.

It's great for quick shaved ice and snow cones. It's not going to be as fine as Hawaiian shaved ice and will still be somewhat crunchy. I have this and since I love shaved ice, I upgraded to the little snowie max

If you have a food processor with a cheese grater option, try that first before buying a single use appliance. Makes great shaved ice.

The syrup is where this gets massively expensive, at least if you are going for something actually made for shaved ice (like blue raspberry, tiger's blood, etc.) 6 bucks a bottle adds up quick when I ... I mean, the kids, need the entire color spectrum.
