I have the spin version of this and have used this model once. Highly recommend for someone that wants a 3:2 screen and doesn't want to spend 300+ for a bigger, higher resolution 3:2 screen like the acer 713. The 3:2 screen is a pleasure to do work on compared to a 16:9 screen of the same measuurement - more vertical. And the 4020 processor is snappy enough. This price (80) is the lowest I have ever seen. Best Buy was selling these on sale for 130 awhile back, maybe 1.5 years ago. Acer sells these on ebay recertified for 100 with a 2 year warranty.

I also recommend for someone that just wants a nice inexpensive chromebook.

The keyboard is not backlit. I installed something like these and like them https://www.ebay.com/itm/224650955691
I also put tape like spacers to compensate for the added thickness so the keys would not touch the screen.

The chromebook is on the heavy side because of heavier construction.

Updates until June 2027 https://support.google.com/chrome...py=%2Cacer

For comparison, this 3:2 screen is about 1/2 inch vertically shorter than a 16:9 14" screen and about 2.5 inches less wide. For some people the a 14" FHD (1080) screen would be better but those will be more than 80 with 4.5 years of updates left.

tempted to get this since I missed the last $80 Chromebook.

Looking forna cheap Chromebook for personal use at work

Only thing keeping me from getting this one is the 32gb storage, 64 would've been way better

Got this a while back when it was $130 at BB. The non-touchscreen really kills it for me. Plus the screen isn't that bright to begin with. Not bad considering it is under $100. Yea, backlite KB would of been great.

Going to try the refurb HP x2 and see how it goes.

Might be a good email and light business work chromebook. Just wish it had more than 32 gigs of storage.

Was hoping some people would start posting reviews. I initially hesitated, but decided to place the order that morning figuring I'll just cancel if I change my mind, as the shipped and sold by Amazon gave a November 15 eta. So Amazon clearly underestimated demand. (Predictably already bumped up to October 22-25.) Although 32gb is cramped for any other OS, maybe feasible with chrome and I'll just swap in a microsd for the storage along with them pushing Google cloud hard. Otherwise cheap (and idle Amazon gc balance) and some light portable device should be interesting
