Apparently you have no idea how a MacBook (esp the recent ones) and its RAM work.
Bet you haven't even used one.
If you keep a vigilant eye on Amazon warehouse, you can find these for as low as $590.

I grabbed a silver one for $655 that arrived repackaged but it had the original charger and only a small mark on the lid. Battery was 100%.

It seemed like maybe the box got really messed up so they just repacked it and put it on warehouse, didn't look like it had been used before.

I posted screenshots in a previous thread here on SD for a gold one that was $590. Would've gotten it myself but I just really don't like the gold color.

They tend to sell very quickly when they do come in stock and most of the time I've seen them, they were between $700-$800, but I kept checking until I saw a price I was happy with.
Same price at bestbuy as well

This is the deal right here! After all the accessories included I'm unsure (outside of the realm of drawing and design) that people get the Ipad over this. This can run mobile apps similarly (albeit no touchscreen)

This is the lowest price yet, I think. I'd be down if I could get by with 256GB.

The last time it was this low was best buy 2 years ago. Definitely worth it at this price. Can do anything you throw at it even with this low RAM, except heavy video editing. I also have an m1 mac book pro but find myself reaching for this one a lot since much easier to carry around.

Don't know if I wanna get this deal too! I have a M1 Mac mini at home and have bought into the Apple ecosystem (iPhone, iPad, AirPods) however the iPad isn't cutting it for my college classes. Don't know if it would be dumb to pick up the M1 MacBook Air or just get a cheap windows laptop. Plus I don't know if I'd end up abandoning my M1 Mac mini at home

Unless you just surf internet with less than 10 tabs open, 8GB RAM isn't enough and will eat into the swap memory. Wish there is a deal on 16GB to jump on

Get the laptop, you will be glad you did. There is no replacement for a laptop for college or work.
