Some review say it's not accurate. It's highly reduced so they may be why?

That and the fact that it requires 30 mins. to "warm up". Nope!

Yeah, I saw that also. I guess for the price some people might not mind. Just not for me.

Why does anything use 9v batteries anymore? I have plenty of triple and double a rechargeable, the 9v kills it for me.

Under frequently bought together, flour and yeast are bought along with this thermometer. Kinda interesting I guess.

Where did you find that? Must be some 30 sec. to allow some integration (averaging) time. I have been using similar ones for a long time for cooking (scan the temp of milk and so on). They are great for the job if not accurate to 0.1 degree.
In fact, few days ago the display on theone I have, Southwire_31030S_InfraRed Thermometer, starting going blank. Searching on the web, I found it uses a 9V (the battery cover was not that visible).

Might be more for baking use then checking human temperatures!

The product page has a bullet stating "Product requires a 30-minute warm-up period to give accurate reading", which may be a good additional resource for a Web search.

I bought a Kintrex reader years ago, no problems. When I want a surface temperature answer (air temp coming out of house vents, surface temp of frozen/thawing food, etc) I want the answer immediately, 30 minute wait is useless, however the manufacturer does answer a question on this which is more helpful and understandable, they should really update their bullet point on it:

"The warm up time would be required when major environment temp changed. i.e.: when you leave the device in the car overnight in winter time, you need to let the device stay long enough in room temp to stabilize temp balance before take any measurements."
