I have both. The ROKU seems easier to use IMO. I really like the ROKU over Firestick as it allows me to stream my Spectrum. Firesticks and Spectrum streaming do not play nice and there is no support.
We have 3 sticks and have never had an issue. I hate the Express since you have to point the remote directly at it. Also if you have Xfinity Roku is the only device that supports the streaming app.

I can't comment on Roku, but I love my fire sticks. I have 4 and it's snappy, and being able to use it to command Alexa to turn on/off the lights or the fan is icing on the cake.

Roku sticks have much more problems than the non stick versions. Do not recommend.

This. In regards to the Xfinity thing, I've always said Roku is preferred because they are only a device company so all the services have an app for them instead of Amazon, Google and Apple not supporting competing company's devices.
Of course now that Roku is doing its own content and such, there have been squabbles and dropping of apps in recent years and the big players have mostly made up, so it's not as big of a selling point.

This or the Amazon Fire Stick 4K? Thoughts?
I have both but I use Roku in my bedroom to utilize night listening through the app. It allows me to seamlessly stream the audio to my wireless beats through the roku app. Far superior than connecting headphones through a firestick.

Are these sticks different than the same ones that were $25 three years ago for black Friday time? Any updates hardware wise? I don't have any issues with mine (don't seem slow).
