We have 2 iPad Air 2s (so they have lasted from 2017-2022 with zero problems. Screen shattered, $200 to replace screen so I bought one of these instead. Get the cheap iPad, get the AppleCare, by the time you need a new one you'll be able to get 17th gen iPads for $250 too
