Lowes DOES carry Weber grills and usually have end of the season clearance on them just like Ace and Target (I don't think target carries the Genesis model anymore though). This grill would retail at or just over $1000. The newer models this year underwent an upgrade with features and price. I do NOT believe this is the upgraded version. This price would indicate roughly 50% off the new MSRP. It's quite possible to get these at 75% off, but it is VERY difficult to find stores with stock at that price later in the year. Most of the bargain hunters scarf them up at this price range.
I bought 3 three years ago. I gave two for gifts and kept one. The one I kept was missing an electrical wiring harness (it was the floor model and already assembled so I knew). I am confident in Weber Customer Service, so I bought it anyway. I called Weber, took a photo of the serial number and place where the part went that was missing. They sent a new one within a week.
If you want a grill of medium quality and features today, you should have already bought this deal. If you want a high-performance competition grill that professionals use, this isn't it. If you want a piece of trash that isn't worth your hard-earned dollars, well, this isn't it either. There will likely be a better price later in the year, but there may not be stock near you. Plus, it's a lot of work driving around checking for stock on another lower priced clearance later in the year, so add that into any savings you may get later. It's a solid midrange grill that gets plenty hot (600+ degrees) and will last for many years with little care even in harsh elements. I'm not interested in it above $500, but thumbs up OP for a solid deal.

I used it once for the first time yesterday. So no returning and jumping on this deal. Oh well! I think this is great deal for the natural gas version for a great grill.

the genesis line is much more heavy duty than the spirit line? or not at this lower level?

Decent price at end of season for this grill. If you wait longer and if they are in stock at your local Ace Hardware, price might drop more but YMMV.
Check Home Depot or Lowe's they clearence out their grills too. GL.
