No, but you can either get a case or the 2nd gen pros have a place to put a lanyard. Get 2 different colors, problem solved.

You could also order a skin to apply. thinner than a case, much more customizable, and protect the easily scratched white plastic these are made of

Not speaking for him. But my first airpods from apple failed at 1 year 2 mos. Apple wanted $$ to replace. Next airpods bought from Costco due to satisfaction warranty. Haven't returned a set yet but id say this is the reason for costco purchase. I dont advocatw to return just randomly tho

Wasn't able to get the pickup offer but when I opened amazon on chrome on my phone, I got this offer popup for $15 off first 2 purchases in app. $10 off first and $5 off second. That's true. Though that equates to $65 for one year of having them vs. not, which is certainly worthwhile to me.

I bought the first gen the day they came out at full price. If I sell them on eBay used today I can get ~$70 after fees. Three years of usage for net $180 for three years. That's $5/mo and I use them probably ~10hr a day. Probably the best bang for buck apple product I've ever purchased.
