I'm new to these solar generators. Trying to figure out whether this is a good deal. I'd like to have something to run my sump pump, refrigerator, and stand-up freezer for a short-medium duration during a power outage (until I can go out to get some gasoline for my generator). Obviously this wouldn't work to power all the devices I cited simultaneously, but one at a time would be great in a pinch. From a price standpoint, how does this compare to other reputable brands with similar power output?

It is a very good unit. I had been researching it for some time.

Can this handle small cooking appliances (e.g. during camping)? 1000w seems like it's right on the border.

Yes small ones if you have a device rated 1000 watts this particular unit would operate for one hour on a full charge. So it's not going to do a lot with cooking.

Yea I measured my current electric griddle and it was using slightly over 1200 watts. I'll probably keep looking for something closer in that range.

It might run your sump pump , but no a fridge/freezer. However if you don't open fridge or freezer they are good for a day. Long enough for you to get gas.
What you really need is a generator powered by propane, as propane doesn't go bad, so you can just keep a couple of propane 20lb tanks full for years until needed.

Just get one of the Blackstone propane ones. They're like $70-90 at Walmart. Uses a one # Propane tank.
