Price is right but I can't think of a reason I need one
Yeah, I'd personally stick with combination type A+C drives for now. I really like this one, which is $6 more for the same capacity: https://a.co/d/am6TyBB
Wish everything had type c ports but I don't quite feel confident enough to use these yet

Dumb question alert.
How do you plug them into your iPad mini? Through a lightning to USB-C female adapter?
TIA

One side is the other is USB-A, they just don't actually show off the type A side in the photos.

The linked drive has USB type C on one end, and USB-A on the other. I agree with him, there is still way too much potential for frustration with a USB-C only drive, still way too much deployed pre-USB-C hardware that's not going away any time soon.

I was trying to find out which gen of usb 3.1 this is (probably 3.1 gen 1, which is the same as 3.0) when I found this nugget in the specs:

"400MB/s USB 3.13 read speeds"

I guess Samsung is making up its own usb generations now? 🤷🏼 ♂️

And then in the hardware section they call it "USB 3.2 Gen 1".

No wonder consumers are confused.

The difference is in the speed. One is USB 3.0, the other isn't. The A/C drive is 150 MB/sec. The USB-C is 300 MB/s write speed. So if speed is a factor, there really is no comparison.

I like use these on vacations. Despite a plethora of cloud options, it's good to have physical backups. Since my phone doesn't have a microSD slot, I backup to an external USB like this one.
