I still see it at $1999.39, however I am price matching it at Best Buy so I get my TotalTech protection plan included. I'm replacing a 4-5 year old Vivitek HK2288. Trying to decide if I should get a different screen or not.

Best Buy initially didn't want to do the price match over chat because the rep didn't think they were the same manufacturer, but I eventually got him to see that they were both LG's.

Read the reviews and then spend a little more on an Epson Home Cinema 5050UB. A refurb from Epson with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty is $2400 (mine was delivered new - zero hrs on unit and bulb).

Cept it's $2500. And the ~4k hour bulb isn't covered under the 2 year limited warranty. The laser source on this 25 lb beast lasts ~20k hours. Not to mention eARC. Reviewers complain that this has low contrast, it works better with a matte screen vs alr screen, and it's too laggy for serious gamers. I dunno... at $2k seems like a decent deal. most reviews checked it out when it was $3k.

The reviews on this check out. I just ordered one. It was either this or the optoma uhz45. AVS forums isn't a fan of optoma's service. I'm replacing an 8 year old optoma myself. I added the 3 year coverage too as it seems LG only covers 1 year warranty.

Citi Costco Visa would get you another 2 yr warranty on it...

Curious how this compares to the Epsons like the 5040 or 5050. I got the Epson 4010 and love it except some HDR/DV content looks terrible on it.

I was really skeptical on projectors but the Epson ones at least from my experience are the real deal. I previously had a Viewsonic projector and it was too loud for my taste and the colors weren't great.

Where do you see about the warranty with costco visa? Wish I knew I have one but used the amex.

Also there are a lot of reviews of this up against the 5050 and every review mentions the main benefit of the epson over this is better black levels but the LG is better in other ways

I believe its ALL Citi cards, but I know at least for the 2 I had (Citi Premier and Costco it has it)

https://www.cardbenefits.citi.com...ranty.aspx

Included with Your Card
Warranties run out. Get an extra 24 months added to your warranty when you purchase items at least in part with your Citi card.

That's why any electronics I always buy with the Citi Costco card. However, I've never actually filed a claim before so not sure how easy it is compared to Chase (I've done 4-5 with them since I've had them much longer).

I've owned many HT projectors in the last 20 yrs. I watch movies. Actual contrast ratio / black level is paramount and can not be determined by manufacturer's specs. "OK" is not good enough for me when watching films regardless of the price. Buying a new bulb every 3 years is not a concern for me if I've been delighted every hour I've spent watching. But to each their own.

Wirecutter suggest the less expensive SilverTicket screens. But you'll need to figure out the correct sizing based on the throw length, viewing angle, seating, etc. I plan on swapping my super old projector screen, if its too big. I can't decide on a good projector shelf/stand yet.. :S

This or the X3000i?? Does anybody have any thoughts? Size difference would be relatively unimportant. I'd be using it mainly for movies/sports.

The X3000I is the one I'd get if the vertical offset didn't make it impossible in my setup (it needs to be on the ceiling or lower than I can manage). It's a great projector, especially with a proper screen that improves the black levels.

The recommendations typically go the BenQ X3000i is best at 2K, then Epson makes the best up until about $5,000 at various price points.

Someone on Reddit suggested the Acer V6820i at $1,000 is the best around a grand, but I don't know a lot about it.

There is a 15% restocking fee now for everyone hence am not risking buying from BB. A TT member here. The technical guy from BB informed me of the change in policy.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm a TT member too but looks like for recent purchases that doesn't matter.

I actually bought this projector and the Epson LS11000 and was going to demo them both out in my room and decide which one to return. Thankfully I opened the LG first and haven't opened up the Epson yet, so I guess the Epson is going back without a demo. Really would have liked to have seen if the epson was worh $2000 more over the LG.
