Good deal. This is currently their best controller, and will probably remain the best if you prefer Dualshock-style thumbstick placement (e.g. both sticks on the bottom). 8bitdo will be coming out with an "Ultimate" controller soon, which will be a bit chunkier and go for asymmetric thumbstick placement that more closely mirrors the XBX / Switch Pro arrangement. However, that one won't be launching until the end of the month, and it'll retail for $70.

Great deal for that. I think I paid just a little bit less last time for an open box or slightly used one.

Been eying this for quite a while but wondering whether i should get a second Nvidia shield controller instead, especially bc it has a mic built in as well. How does this compare to that controller, mic absence aside?

I accidentally hit the home button on the shield controller constantly. Otherwise I love the shield controller.

Yeah that's true. That is one super annoying thing with it.

If I didn't already own an Xbox controller, then I would definitely get this. Almost feel like the original ps controller to me

Love this controller, except I think the shoulder buttons are a little tough to access easily.

Yeah. The ultimate controller looks really good. And it can even wake the switch unlike their previous versions. And supposedly Hall effect thumb sticks will prevent drift - a major issue on most controllers.

I had preordered it when my pro controller started drifting (just last week). But after seeing a YouTube video, I bought contact cleaner spray, opened the pro controller and cleaned it with the spray. That seems to have completely fixed the drift and so I cancelled my preorder.

Regarding the 8bitdo ultimate controller - I'm a bit surprised they don't have a version without the dock. They've priced the switch version to be the same at $70. Although the 8bitdo product seems better in all respects than the switch pro controller, the casual gamer may not care. Given the same price, they might just buy the Nintendo Pro controller instead.

I'm guessing they could have shaved maybe $5 by having a version without the dock. Many people (like me) don't need another dock. Having no real basis for assertion, I can't make an educated guess; but I wonder if a dock-less controller for $65 would sell better than a $70 one with dock. It's a curious addition since most 'pro' controllers, even higher priced ones don't include a dock. They could have undercut the pro controller in price by easily removing this non-essential upgrade.

But who knows - they might have looked at the market and decided more users will get swayed by this freebie.

In any case, good to see more choices in quality controllers.

Bought two of these at different times when they were this price. Great controller and no complaints. I have one for my PC, and one for my Steam Deck. I have a Pro+ as well which is also great, got these to have back buttons.

I haven't used it with Switch yet, as I have 4 Pro Controllers, but its good to have that option. I do like having back buttons for certain games (e.g. Pokémon Legends Arceus), so I might end up using it for Switch too despite the fact that it doesn't wake up the Switch.

It's important to note that although this includes a rechargeable battery, it can be easily replaced with AA batteries (rechargeable or otherwise)

Will this work with ipados?

Looks like the 8Bitdo Sn30 Pro is on sale too. Was just looking at these yesterday so this is great. Is this Pro 2 essentially the same as the sn30 pro, but with the different profile/handles to hold?
