Thanks, finally bit on one of these since raspberry pi's are impossible to get. Going to run pi-hole and unifi network app to start.

As much as I like Pi boards a PC such as this is so much more versatile and usable.

Yes, yes, and no.

Per a previous deal thread...

RAM is SODIMM (laptop memory) with 2 slots, 1 in use, supposedly expandable to 32GB per an earlier thread

RE: The CPU, somebody in a previous thread said no go on a processor updgrade.

Bought this last time and installed pfsense. Has been stable ever since as my main router.

Turned my RT-68Us into access points. Can't say that I notice a difference. But I installed pfblockerNG on it and am supposedly more secure with the regular pfsense updates.

Got two last time. You can put 16mg in them. Great casual PC. You can replace the DVD player with SSD with a caddy. Not a gaming PC. It runs Netflix and Youtube fine. Put Kodi on it works great. You can steam Steam to it and it works ok as a gaming PC with 16mg.

I am no expert on where Intel has taken Celeron these days so research your options before buying... but yeah this is a PC so you can reconfigure RAM/HDD/SSD/CPU.

Yes I've been running this on opnsense the last few months since the last $88 sale. It's been running perfectly. No errors or disconnects at all. The one time I thought there was an error, turns out Down Detector said it was Verizon.

That being said, I don't use enough of the opnsense features. I figure I should try to use IPS/IDS, but it mentions most of the traffic is HTTPS anyways.. I think it was over 80% of the traffic.

I ordered this machine during the last deal was posted. I have tried 2 different dimms to add more RAM to this machine - and neither one works. I have been unable to find the exact same DIMM that is currently in there (which would only take me to 8GB and I need more than that).

I recommend against this machine simply due to the RAM compatibility issues - I have not had this much trouble in all my time of upgrading RAM on other computers. Just my 2c !
