"Meager 8th gen CPU"? "Don't plan on doing much with 256GB SSD"?

Please don't give advice about subjects you are clearly totally fkin unqualified and inexperienced at. Best case, I imagine you are a novice user who has been allowed to lie to yourself and think you are the shit. I run an outside IT support firm that supports thousands of users at several dozen client businesses. The specs on this machine, outside of resolution are more than sufficient for 99% of PC users.
This uses a 256GB SSD, not mechanical hard drive.

Irrelevant. Age of the machine has very little correlation to real world use and performance. That's just something retail outlets use to trick idiots into spending their money on un-needed tech every few years.

7390 2-in-1 has no LAN port if that matters to anyone.
And the Dell support forum has pages and pages of reports about motherboard failure on the 7390s.
Something crazy like 80% failure rate.
Could be why Dell Refurbished has so very many of them.......
isn't that due to the battery? That would be terrible if it has a high failure rate. I just ordered one and really like the price.

Deal breaker. If I want to be productive, I need 1600x900 or better. If I want to waste time, I can just use my phone.

1366 x 768.

Yeah, no thanks. That's quite literally unusable for many applications -- web and standalone. Pair that with a meager 8th gen CPU, just acceptable 8gb of ram, and don't-plan-on-doing-too-much 256gb SSD....it's pretty much e-waste.
I would not get this laptop due to the screen resolution, but the CPU should be just fine for many apps. I have a slightly slower - i5-8250U - but same generation CPU in a different brand of laptop and it runs fast enough for my needs. It is also eligible for the upgrade to Windows 11.

Hey I think this is my first comment ever made. But I have used Slickdeals for many years. I am not very savy on computers. And I have lost most of my skills. Because I use my cell for everything. However I am looking for a laptop that I can use for micro-soft programs.
This is an extremely good price. Do you Recommend it for someone who wants to use it for spreadsheets and tracking my finances?
It is more than enough to do what you stated to do. unless you are doing something complex then you need to add more ram and storage space.

This is trash. Do yourself a favor and look up the 7390 refurb thread and grab a 2 in 1 or even just a regular touch with no pen support. Trash!

Your comment is e-waste as every word of it is wrong.
Sorry, it's not 2017 anymore. Those specs weren't great then, and they're abysmal today.

Then go buy the entire lot of these machines, they must be a bargain for you Mister IT.

I don't know how is this considered a deal.

I just got Refurbished Dell Latitude 7280 (1920 x 1080) Touch with Core i7-7600U, 8 GB Ram and 128 GB SSD last week from the same website for $174.50.

Are these susceptible to the board flex issues? Looking for a dedicated LNX notebook.

Congratulations, you paid the same for an older model with slower dual core, without windows 11 support and half the SSD. It's debatable if your extra resolution is worth those compromises. Either way, this deal sold out.

You really need to consider i7-7600U is a 2 core 4 thread cpu while this i5 8th gen is a 4 core 8 thread one. Basically one can consider any i7-xxxxU before 8th gen as an i3, because they really were. Intel just named them i7 and sold them for higher price.
