The same can be said about classic cars, HiFi audio equipment, road bikes, guns, liquors, or anything else certain communities are appreciative of. There is always a group of people that like things for a particular set of features, craftsmanship, or specific emotions they bring.

$3200 is pretentious? On a brand most people outside the Watch community have likely never heard of? Ok.

Also, you seem fun.

Pretentious is thread crapping on items you don't understand as a way of making yourself feel superior for being cheap.

I can understand cars and audio equipment... Bill gates for example wears a $50 Casio, but drives a Porsche. The car does what other cars can't and looks amazing. This makes sense to me.
Wat about people out there buy $50 million dollar mansion with 50 rooms 10 bathrooms when its 2 people occupied. Please explain that.

mechanical excellence and looks in the same vein as a Porsche

just because one doesn't understand or know the history make it a pretentious expenditure

don't understand why people make frivolous comments in these threads about deals ...

Because people like stuff, and some people can afford the stuff they like. Pretty simple. Not everyone wants to sit in a blank room with nothing in it, so they don't spend an extra penny other than what's needed. Hopefully you live off the grid in the woods in a handmade log cabin, and hunt and gather your own food. Anything more is a pretentious expenditure.

Because money is meant to be spent. If you have the money and you don't spend it on yourself, someone else will definitely spend it.

A luxury car is a waste of money and is expensive to maintain

And Warren Buffet rides around in an old Lincoln but has a million dollar Rolex collection. It's almost like people enjoy different things in life.
