This is most def not worth 500$. Large storage capacities are wonderful, take up much less space per drive, but you dont actually need 4 TB of Gen 4 NVME right now on a consumer desktop. Even if your prosumer, or a business person, i still cannot recommend a gen 4 drive of this capacity, it simply does not make sense.

Direct storage does not exist yet for games, nor do i see it actually having an impact on game load times on PC, besides other backend optimizations by game devs.

Video editing is not impacted by Gen 4, Gen 3 is MORE then enough. Most people are not editing 4k or 8k Footage, and even then its gonna come down to the CPU and program you are using rather then the drive. Offloading footage is still a bottleneck on the storage medium on which its recorded on, not the drive itself.

Would be Entertaining to see a Mass storage thing for NAS but these drives are still quite small capacity wise for that, and then the interface between the NAS and the computers becomes the bottle neck.

These drives simply dont make sense to buy at these much higher pricing Smilie

Should be 400 msrp and $300ish on sale... this premium for the highest density is getting old, especially not breaking any speed records or significantly higher tbw reliability.. the higher pricepoint wont see much demand
