In all seriousness, cotton and wool are good materials. Polyester and nylon are cheap and durable but terrible for moisture and comfort.

In a high quality sock, you want Bamboo, Modal, Polypropylene, Tencel. Any mix of those, or even if they contain a small amount of some other material is fine too. You want these because overall, they provide the best mix of comfort, breathability, wear resistant, elasticity, warmth, and weight.

Polyester is not breathable. Your feet will sweat puddles in your shoes. It is a cheap material.

It's good price. Not sure quality because there's so many tiers of socks for different activities. I am a runner and bought Costco puma ankle socks after a while of use, when I slide my shoes off. My socks comes off my heel when sliding my shoe shoe off and it's annoying.

In addition to having something besides polyester, I've found that sports socks have to have at least 5% spandex to work very well, 7-10% is even better! With a smaller number like 3% they don't seem to hold up very long and just suck at forming to my feet.

Actually, it's cheaper. It's $10 for a 6 pack for Adidas socks. You can also sometimes get the same price at the Adidas Outlet when they have their 50% off sale every so often (regular price $20).
