If I want an inexpensive vacuum for the home garage - bugs, debris from parking, etc...will this be a better choice vs a home vac (like Windtunnel that has retractable cords for easy storage)? TIA

Just an fyi, shop vac went out of business and the name was bought by a Chinese company named great star. So don't expect them to be as good as before.

I would recommend Home Depot's Rigid or Lowe's Craftsman brand wet/dry vacuum.

BF around the corner. Last year I got the 14 gallon 6 peak HP one with pump for $50 from shop vac store.

Not a good deal. For historical comparison, Walmart had the 1.5 gallon 2HP shop vac for $10 and Home Depot had the Ridgid 12 gallon 5HP for $40.

I have had this for like 10 years. It works great. Supplied tools are cheap. Cord is too short. Has a paper filter coffee type filter that gets dirty quick and needs to be cleaned or replaced often. Good for small jobs but wish hose was longer.
