Some thoughts to share
I got this one from the costco deal ($1K)
Is it the exact same body, motherboard and cpu ? i will have to dig deeper now to see what to do and to justify keeping costco one. I never opened mine from costco, and not sure now if I should. maybe wait for black friday.

Correct, the slots are physically different, mobos support one or the other. If DDR5 is important to you, this isn't the machine for you. You won't find DDR5 at this price point, not yet at least.

But if you are doing stuff that needs DDR5 you should probably be looking at a higher end machine anyway.
There actually are motherboards that support BOTH standards, DDR4 and DDR5. Separate slots of course, because they are physically different, but they do exist. Obviously I wouldn't expect this system to have one of those boards though.

Only reason to keep it is for Costco return/warranty reasons. The two are IDENTICAL, aside from the 1TB HDD in the Costco one, which can be added to the Best Buy PC for much cheaper if desired.

So if the ram is ddr4. That means the motherboard only support ddr4 right? So to upgrade to ddr5 I would need new ram and different mobo?
I wouldn't bother upgrading to ddr5 with any of these components.

Yeah as far as I know you'll only get that in a build your own situation. Though maybe Asus or MSI will have systems with it (since they're the main two with those boards) but I would expect them to be more expensive. Sort of a wasteful design anyway. If you're going to pay an extra couple hundred for the ability to upgrade to DDR5 later, makes more sense to either just do DDR5 now or wait til it comes down.

Looks good but that is an awful case with little to no airflow, 100% it will overheat and cable management will be a mess. No doubt it will be difficult to modify or add anything
I would agree with this comment. The case has a very low internal volume and a constricted front panel. Hot air will pool under the GPU and above the PSU.

That said, the 3060 isn't a hot running beast. For this particular build, it's probably sufficient though not ideal. Anything above a 3070ti would be in trouble in a case like this, however.

Some thoughts to share

I got this one from the costco deal ($1K)
Pro - It works well and pretty quite. Use standard ATX PSU
Cons - case is very cramped. Lack of ports on the back (only 1 audio jack, RJ port and 4 USB 2.0ports) and only 2 DDR4 slots.

Last week I also ordered the Dell XPS 8950 that was onsale for $1187.50. My blue Amex card got the $120 off $599 and $50 off $100 Dell order. Both coupons are stackable. Final price
difference was around $60 before tax.

I'll return the Lenovo one back to Costco.

The main difference between the Lenovo and Dell XPS are
- XPS has 4 DDR5 slots
- extra M.2 slots for storage
- more I/O ports on the back and SD connector in the front.
- Lenovo has 3060 12Gb, Dell has 3060 TI 8Gb
- Dell chasis is much easier to work with.
- Lenovo used Gen3 (Intel 670), Dell used Samsung Gen4 SSD

Cons - Dell used custom PSU (only 420watt).
Where was that Dell on sale? Cheapest I see is $1250 which would bring it to $1080 minus the $120 and $50 Amex coupons. That's a $180 difference.

I5-12400 version comes with 256Gb ssd, this one with 512Gb. I upgraded with 1T nvme drive. 16Gb memory used 2 memory slots, can not add more memory, the computer has only two slots. The computer is very quiet, even with gaming 100% gpu utilization, it is not too loud. It has only two 92 mm case fans, air flow is not great but sufficient. It is much cheaper than building one. Gaming loading is 5 time faster than the one I built 10 years ago, i7-2400k. I also upgraded the lenovo factory cooler, lenovo seems to use amd cooler hole size, have to use a drill to modify the cooler slightly to fit. No need to remove motherboard to install new cooler.

He may have gotten EPP pricing and is comparing the price to what he paid at Costco ($100 more than this deal). That would make the Dell about $1020 after the AmEx discounts or only $20 more than Costco's Lenovo.

And yes, I would appreciate a link too.

heating is not an issue, check out the review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKkAv8mOvyc

CPU temp is about 75 degrees during gaming. That's acceptable.

PSU is 500W and uses standard size. So, you can upgrade the GPU later if you like. By the way, the CPU is quite powerful.

Also, upgrading memory is not bad, just swap out the existing (8x2) with 16x2. And sell the old memory. DD4 is relatively cheap now.

This is the best deal for gaming PC right now.

Is this a proprietary mobo and psu?
