"If your purchase meets all eligibility requirements of the offer terms, you'll see your rewards reflected directly on your statement. Credits may be reversed if qualifying purchase is returned/cancelled"
I have received all the rewards against my credit card statements for Laithwaites and WSJwines. There's no clawback here per the above, only if I reverse my purchase or cancel.
No one is angry. You're giving a lot of information by comparing it to other websites and completely ignoring all the people with ACTUAL experience from this vendor using Amex promo.
Everyone should read The Points Guy link above before even considering purchasing from this vendor rather than believing the OP that there are no issues here.

Well, using the Amex link I can order a $17.99 and a $16.99 bottle to get to $35 but then there's $14.95 shipping unless I order six bottles. There's no way to stay near $35 while buying six bottles. Soooo ... if you use the link and buy $35 worth of wine you are going to pay shipping. Killed the deal for me. Not a deal at all.
Shipping is the same catch on every one of these Amex wine deals and I hate the fact that these wine non-deals take up so many slots on my Amex offers. Using the link in the offer is a required condition of the offer. That requirement is stated TWICE in the first two sentences of the offer :
"Get a one-time $35 statement credit by using your enrolled eligible Card to make a single purchase of $35 or more online ONLY at wineinsiders.com/amex by 12/31/2022. Purchases MUST be completed by using the link provided."
I would be very careful in making any purchase that is not offered using the link given in the Amex offer itself. If you use a different link — then you have no claim to the benefit. You may get it anyway but if you don't then you have no claim to it.
Did the promo 4x (2 accts). Got the email every time. IMHO, even the promo rate w/o the CB is a fair price w/5x shopping portal points. If I get the CB, it's $1.66/bottle. Without CB, it's <$8/bottle shipped/taxed. I invite you to beat that.
24 bottles for holiday parties is an expense that I was already going to incur. Also, my last case from them was 85% wines that I enjoyed. Thanks for posting!
I would stay away from wine insider deals.
Seems like they are going through your invoices to clawback any credits that do not meet the t&c.
Good luck
The people getting their credits removed are people who used other promotional codes or links (such as TCB, groupon). If you don't try to stack deals, you will be fine.
Last year I tried this deal and also added a promo from a cashback site and the Amex offer never worked, the cashback one did. Moral of the story is they don't let you double dip.
I also learned my lesson that these wines were not good at all. YMMV
