Could someone kindly provide an answer to this? New to trying this offer and would like some insight to do it correctly. Thanks in advance!
Yes, offers needed to be activated before using them. Amex Offers are typically account specific, meaning some cardholders will get them and others will not. If you see the offer available to be added to your card, then you are eligible.

Used OP's link to place 2 separate orders exceeding $35. Received confirmation email from amex within 2 mins. Attached the screenshot of email confirmation
I have a feeling that email triggering and actual credit posting are 2 independent steps. Have to wait and see if the actual credit posts on the account though email is triggered ..
I used a discount code and still triggered the offer.
The system is quick to shoot out emails when the spending threshold is reached but I'd be wear of a clawback in this case. AE does receive higher level detail on purchases than most CC's (e.g. they can see what you bought, how much was coupon, tax, shipping, etc). I don't know that that information comes through immediately though,
Someone would have to run the math here but if you're interested in more than just "free cheap wine" and you have more than 1 card with this offer then you could take advantage of referral:
Refer a Friend
Give $100, Get $100
Give your friends $100 off their first purchase of $200+. They'll save, and you'll get a $100 coupon when they buy.
So basically, refer yourself, have that self spend $200+, get the $100 off plus $35 promo, then you'll have $100+$35 to spend yourself. All-in-all should be AROUND $270 of wine for free, but with a higher bar you can get better stuff. [total OOPS ~ $200 but you'll get $270 of "value"]
I've done this before on other wine promos, but I can't comment if that can be done with this one.

Did you buy just ~ $10 bottles? Shipping is $15 for me, so with the 3 bottle minimum it's still ~ $45 shipped, or $10 for 3 bottles after the promo.
I've already did the $55 Laithwaites wine box and liked it. It comes out to effectively $5 after $40 Amex rebate + $10 CB.
And I could do it upto 3 more times (twice per card * 2 cards).
Is this set of wine any better that I should buy it paying more?
I'm not wine connoisseur by any means but I believe the consensus on all these wine clubs is that the wines are all pretty much the same - e.g. same or similar companies running the back end, and the wine is rebadged/bottled to make it look different. Note I am not saying it's bad wine (see first sentence) but that it's largely gimmick. My 2 cents.

Did you notice this in the email. if your purchase satisfies all the requirements.....not sure they track clicking from their link.

I did the same. Placed 2 orders each on 3 accounts. X-Mas around the corner. My hubby likes to gift these cheap wines for his coworkers. lol
