seriously though... back when we got our first wall mount TV, i took the top shelf in the pantry and moved everything out. it's so nice not having a big clunky stand in the room.
side note...
i've been in many farm houses, none have barn doors on their TV stands
This is what I'm looking to do. If you don't mind which one did you get for your 85". It's hard to find decent ones for a decent price.
What else are you doing with the space under your TV? It's a good spot to throw a console there for storage and some decorative knick knacks.
I prefer a TV stand with a VESA mount pole in the center back, so it is much more like wall mounted vs. sitting on the top of the stand on feet, to elevate, leave free space, and keep it stable. I rearrange too much to wall mount... plus wall mounting on the concrete wall of my basement would be a PITA.
