While it seems like a decent deal, I don't know nothing about that brand. Anybody experience with this?

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

Soldigim is a subsidiary of SK hynix. Sk hynix bought Intel's ssd and nand divisions and spinned them into this brand, so these are basically new versions of the Intel 670p.

That said this specific drive is a mid level QLC without a dedicated dram so just average transfer speeds and lower life because of qlc (granted it is a large drive so the chances of hitting the write limits for each individual sector is much lower)

Why did they name it P41 Plus , I thought it's better than the Hynix P41 but it's not, it's dramless and QLC. It's gen4 but barely above the gen 3 max speed.

It's a solid brand. It is SK Hynix (which itself was offshot of Huyndai) acquisition of Intel rebranded as Solidigm.

I agree. Naming it "Plus" which implies better not slower.

The new P44 Pro that just launched is an absolute beast.

Name change bait and switch is the name of the game these days - Samsung pioneered it!

I wouldn't call a drive without DRAM is a successor to another with DRAM, except chronologically from the same team.

This is an entry level, not mid level. 4 channel controllers to flash memory limit the throughput you can get for a Gen 4 system.

Its weakness is in the high latency relative to most other drives Gen 3 or Gen 4. While some of the test measurements look good, it comes with high latency which increases as load increases.

Ok, as a budget entry level drive with the fastest QLC flash there is. Still too expensive for that category.

Seems at par with Kingston and WD top dogs at first look but have to wait for prices to come down to earth on this one.

Is this a coincidence? Samsung just announced this on the same day. P44 Pro just went from beast to a puppy.

How do you know? P44 Pro isn't included in those benchmarks.

P44 max speed is 7000 vs 7450 on the 990 PRO . P44 is more of a 980 PRO or SN850.

There's a lot more important benchmarks when it comes to SSDs than a 450MB difference in max throughput.

In the article you linked it says p44 is 2% better than 980 pro and slightly faster than sn850 so it's in the same class / tier. And the 990 pro vs 980 pro benchmarks is more than 2%, looking like a 40% difference in 3D mark
