Review roundup: https://videocardz.com/140948/int...ew-roundup

TLDR / TLDW: i9-13900k is about 40% faster than i9-12900k in multicore perf and is about equal in multicore perf to Ryzen 7950x. Single core perf is around 5% better than 7950x. Major con for 13900k is that it can take up to 300 watts of power in "unlimited power" mode, however you can limit to 95w or 125w and get 70%-80% of perf for much less power draw.

For value, i9-13600k is probably the best value at $299-$319 since it has equal or better gaming perf than a 12900k, while still having 20 threads for multicore perf that beats the 7700x and 7600x.

This is a good price, comparable to a 7950X but it also draws a lot more power (110 more watts for equivalent performance when using all threads).

Will this architecture be future proof is my question. The Ryzen 7000 series is on the new AM5 architecture. My understanding is this 13th gen intel is the last of this architecture. This would mean the next generation would require a whole new setup including mobo. If building from scratch like I am this is a concern. There would be no CPU upgrade path from Intel as I understand it

13600k is the correct buy right now. Have to see about the 3d-vcache chips. Can you imagine a 7600x with 3d-vcache? Competition is great for us consumers!

Yes, 13600 seems to be in the sweet spot for gaming and productivity vs. everything else (all of 12th Gen, Ryzen 7000, AND the 5800X3D)

Can't wait for BF to come around soon enough. Looking forward to MC deals and getting a 13700k. Hopefully at prices similar to last year's $300 for 12700k. So excited.

I would recommend 13600K and operate at reasonable power usage. it would still be a phenomenal cpu.

This is 20 dollars off the MSRP and a whopping 130 dollars less than the R9 7950X, with comparable performance. The people downvoting this are just plain stupid
You enjoy that power bill, I'm paying 650 a month because California.

We were laughing at the AMD 7950X the other week because it needed a lot of power to perform and now here comes Intel, it already beat AMD by requiring you to have nuclear reactor to power their CPU.

I find it very strange that people claim to care about the environment but when it come to getting 10% more performance it's worth using over 2x the power, just running a high end pc will cost over a 100$ a month for light use on California. These manufacturers are buttholes.
