Costco.com has a spend $500, get $75 promotion. The Ipad Pro 5th gen 256GB is priced at $999 with $5 shipping. So total cost is about $935 + tax. Costco charges significantly less tax (I do not know why) than other sellers like Walmart. So the total after tax is about same as the recent FP Walmart deal. Combined with the Exec Membership 2% and Citi 2%, well under.

Several other ipads are also qualify for the promotion. The M2 based 6th gens are however excluded.

I don't think many people want to spend $100 off a last gen model tbh

Agree. The 12.9" variant has no value proposition. only the 11" does hence the popularity from the other deal.

The 12.9" 256gb retails for $1200, so this is $275 off. Not a screaming deal, but also not a bad deal.

Right. The lowest Ive seen on the 12.9" / 256GB was $900 at Amazon, and that lasted only part of a day.

Typical sale price has been $1000. Apple Back to School promo, for those who qualified, was a $150 gift card, combined with the $50 EDU discount. Not as good as a straight discount.

With Apple's stuff, the standard, often base, configurations sell best, and get discounted most often. Venture into the less popular models, or BTO, which is only available direct, and from certain ARs, and it becomes harder to find discounts.

For those who want the less popular 12.9" model, this is a deal, and unlikely to get any better unless one wants to risk waiting for some fire sale on whatever stock remains in the channels as it moves closer to NOS status some time in the future.

In the old days, it was hard to find any discounts on Apple stuff at all, and whatever few percentage points could be had come out of the retailer's margin.

Since the brand exploded, became mainstream, sold everywhere, and started appearing in weekly flyers, discounts are common, even on brand new models, but despite loosening strict control on MAP, the company is still very good at maintaining control over the sales channels, and managing inventory levels and model transitions.

Their product managers are masters at segmenting the model configurations and goading shoppers into buying upgrades, or the next higher config. There's often moaning about that, but people buy anyway.

Putting product aside, the company didn't blunder its way into become one of the most valuable in the world.

Don't people have issues with the screen on the 12.9" Pro model? It's the main reason Apple switched to MiniLED for the latest iteration. Apparently the 11" Pro doesn't suffer from this banding or whatever issue.

I have a 5th Gen that I got as a Walmart refurb (was pretty much brand new) last year at a ridiculous price I couldn't resist. The screen is awesome, I have not had any issues with it. The 5th Gen was the first with the mini LED display.

It's an annual distribution. Executive rewards in august and citi rewards in February.

Is $700 a good price for this exact iPad but used and limited warranty expires in June 2023?

I ordered this this morning, but an hour later they cancelled my order, claiming a credit card problem. I never got a fraud protection text from my Chase like I usually do, and all my CC info was correct. I tried to place the order again just now, but it no longer takes off the $75 off $500 at checkout, even though the "$75 off $500" tag still appears on the object. I suspect Costco decided they didn't want to stack the $75 off and the $150 off anymore and cancelled my order because of it.

Edit: Huh. I logged out of my account and re-added the ipad pro. In the cart it shows the $75 off and the $150 off properly. As soon as I sign in, the $75 off disappears and it only subtracts the $150 off. For some reason it will now only stack when I'm signed out, then they don't stack when I sign in. *sigh*

Edit 2: The terms for the $75 off $500 say only 1 per membership. Looks like that 1 time got used up on my order that THEY cancelled. So now I can't reorder and use the $75 off. What a joke.
