Really good modular helmets on sale. Schuberth Helmets are made in germany and are know to be one of the quitest. I had the C3 Pro and it was quiter than a full face helmet.
Solid colors are $324 and with graphics $399. Most sizes available. Scuberth runs smaller if you are in between sizes chose bigger size. For example I am a 58 cm and wear a Medium in Shoei and Arai but a Large in Schuberth

Worth noting that the C3/C3Pro were great, and the new C5 seems to be good, but the C4 was criticized for poor quality. Best bet would be to go to a Cycle Gear (or another store that sells Schuberth) and try them on and compare. Also the C4 uses the first-gen BT comm system (which got poor reviews for usability) and not the C5's second-gen system. Personally, although I'm in the market for a new modular, I'm going to skip this one - I tried on the C3, C3 Pro and C4 and the C4 just doesn't feel the same to me.

In Europe the C4 is ECE-R 22.05 and in the US it's DOT. The EU ECE-rated helmets aren't imported or DOT certified according to the C4 documentation at Schuberth. (The same disclaimer applies to the C5 according to them.) Does that mean they make different helmets for US and EU? I doubt it. But here's the quote direct from them:

This helmet has been tested and complies with the United States DOT FMVSS No. 218
Standard and does not conform to any other regulations or standards. It is only legal to use
the helmet in countries in which the DOT FMVSS No. 218 Standard is valid.
Awesome deal. In for one...Now just gotta find a good deal on a motorcycle.
Schuberth has a really weird fit. If you have an average round head, you might get a lot of pressure on the crown of your head. I couldn't wear them, went with Shoei helmets instead.

Is Snell-certified still a thing? I always thought they were better than just DOT.

Is it ECE 22-06 certified? DOT certification isn't good enough.

The C4 is pre 22.06 certification. The newer C5 does carry the certification

Appreciate all of the sizing posts. I have a massive head so looks like I'll have to pass. Nothing is worse than an I'll fitting and painful helmet.

I do too but I don't understand how I can fit a helmet at the store and be able to know after an hours ride at speed whether it's going to have pressure points on my dome or not? Any advice?

Most stores will let you wear it for a 30 minutes in store. It's weird but worth it. Some stores have a policy where you can return it as long as it wasn't used for riding. That's the best. You can wear it around your home for about hour or so and if it hurts at the end, you'll know that the size is off. Good luck.

Great deal for a good helmet. I bought one used for more than this a year ago.

This is not true. Cyclegear has 52 listings for ECE rated modular helmets. I personally own a Sedici Sistema II that is ECE rated.
You're correct. Modulars can't get Snell rated, but Snell is inferior to 22.06 ECE and is outdated (even Snell 2020). Another good resource of Sharps, the UK crash ratings, but they're not always up to date because of funding issues. C4 Pro got 4/5 stars and 93% latch rate on tests.

Not really. The extremely expensive helmets don't protect your head better. They are lighter, better build quality, quieter. Plus the 20% "snob" markup.

This echos what I had previously researched.

I have a Schuberth RS2 and I like it, with the only complaint being the expensive visors and the unholy noise above 120mph (although that's mostly my bike's windshield).

Does the sun visor go low enough to not impede visibility?

Right. The crown shape of the riders head determines what models and brands should be tried. The outlier shapes are round and on the other end long oval. Going oversize on a round helmet som that it won't press on the forehead is wrong. Pro riders take out all the pads and fit with just the top liner, fine tune with optional liners if available then fit the cheek pad options. Long oval riders almost always go with the L.O. Signet model from Arai. When a helmet is fitted correctly there is even pressure all around the crown. When tipped up in front it grips the forehead and it will not rotate side to side. Newer designs have other things going on to prevent neck injury in a crash.

Proper fit is the main feature which makes a helmet safer. If your head shape happens to fit the middle of the bell curve helmet shape then fine. Riders who have outlier round or long oval shapes are typically of luck. The majority of novice riders buy helmets that do not fit. Cycle gear often has one senior staff member that knows how to fit a helmet.
