I just bought a pair of these in the 10" size for an engine I reassembled, and they are so good with compression fit hose clamps. Project Farm, an excellent YouTube channel, tested many brands of pliers and Knipex was in first place.
The teeth are super-super hard, so they grip without slipping or wearing. You do want to use great care with these in rubber hoses because they will rip right through them. For loosening hoses once unfastened, use a large pick tool and work the seal loose.
But, yeah, these pliers are the best. Great holiday gift for any mechanically-minded friend, though the 5" size is a little small; maybe get 7" or 10", which are also on sale. Wipe them with a Clorox wipe after you use them and the grease will come right off and they'll last a lifetime.
