RYOBI Introduces the Black Oxide Drill and Drive Kit (40-Piece). This 40-Piece Drill and Drive set is a great kit for projects including wood, metal, and plastic materials. The Black Oxide bits are constructed out of high-speed steel with a black oxide finish to offer superior durability. Another key detail of these bits is the 135° split point that prevents your bit from walking and ensures drilling on contact. This kit features bits containing a TORSION ZONE that is engineered to absorb the high torque and demand that comes with the use of an impact driver for 3X longer life. This kit contains a variety of the most commonly used 1 in. and 2 in. bits, nut drivers that have excellent holding power when using hex drive fasteners and a magnetic bit holder for increased convenience. Included in this set are Woodboring Spade Bits that provide up to 1 in. wood drilling capacity for a wide array of applications. The compact case adds effortless storage and mobility. This set includes (12) black oxide drill bits, (2) woodboring spade bit, (4) bradpoint drill bits, (14) 1 in. impact driver bit, (4) 2 in. impact driver bit, (3) impact nut drivers, (1) impact magnetic bit holder, and a clear front carrying case.

I have this kit. It's garbage. Metal is super soft so the bits deform pretty quickly. The drill bits snap like nothing too. May be a good price but unfortunately the quality is not.

I'm a occasional home DIYer and used this set for all the projects:
- floodlight installation
- vent cleaning
- garage rack installation
- elec outlet installation
- curtain rod installation
- ikea bookshelf setup
- outdoor string light setup by screwing into fence post
- outdoor outlet installation
- outdoor camera installation by drilling through sidings to inner side drywall
I'm not seeing any issue but definitely I'm not doing heavy duty work.
I lost some bits in the past but never worried. Just buy a new set like this.

What is the blade attachment used for? The large thing on the left
It's called spade drill bit. I used it to drill through wood to feed wires inside the drywall. I highly recommend get the one with a screw tip. It will help push the drill bit through the wood with EASE. After using one with the screw tip, not going back to the regular one. Even though it cost a little more, it's worth it compare to trying to use your weight and drill through the wood.

Is there a benefit of using a spade drill bit over a hole saw bit? Seems like it just has to chew through more material before you get your hole.

Not that I've seen, granted I'm not a pro.
The Ryobi set I have I believe is the next step up in number of pieces from this one, smaller holes are spade bits, then you get into the bigger holes with hole saw bits.
